And as the Israelites watched, Joshua copied onto the stones of the altar the instructions Moses had given them. Joshua 8:32 NLT

While they are quite a bit smaller than those described above, a writer in Oregon also collects stones and rocks. Some remind him of the places where his children and grandchildren live. Others remind him of favorite places he and his wife have visited in their travels.

One surprisingly large agate is a reminder that God wants men to listen and learn from the wide variety of individuals they meet along the way. What joy there is in meeting fellow believers and not-yet-Christians being drawn to the Savior. After all, what is the greatest miracle and the cause of greatest joy in heaven? The miracle of every sinner who humbly repents (Luke 15:7).

In the Gospels, Jesus compares Himself to solid rock on which a man can confidently build his house and all its rooms. The apostle Paul goes on to say: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11 NKJV)

There’s more about “Stones for Remembering” to consider another day.

Prayer: Lord, You want me to build my life on Jesus Christ. That’s my desire as well!

God is into stones as well ...

Exodus 28:21 There shall be twelve stones with their names according to the names of the sons of Israel. They shall be like signets, each engraved with its name, for the twelve tribes.

Joshua 4:8 And the people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, just as the LORD told Joshua. And they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down there.
Jos 4:9 And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day.

Joshua 4:20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up at Gilgal.
Jos 4:21 And he said to the people of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’
Jos 4:22 then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’

Hello Downunder,
Yes God is into stones as well! He will also be giving us a stone with a new name on it! Something to look forward to!

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives [it]." ' Revelation 2:17 NKJV

1Peter 2:3 if ye have tasted that the Lord is good:
2:4 unto whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed of men, but with God elect, precious,
2:5 ye also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, unto a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
2:6 Because it is contained in a scripture, Lo, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And who believeth on him shall in no wise be shamed.
2:7 For you therefore that believe is the honour: but for the disbelieving, A stone which the builders rejected, The same was made head of the corner;
2:8 and, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence: who stumble at the word, being disobedient; whereunto also they were appointed.
