Standing for the word of God !!

Every Christian forum you go to online people are arguing like crazy pounding there chest with pride thinking they are standing for the word of God. (me guilty also) yet the bible tells us something different to do.
I have watched members here who are mature in there faith and learned from them that arguing on the pretense you are right and standing for the word of God in a argumentative way in a lot of cases is actually going against the direct word of God.

we know Love is one of the most important things for us in are walk with Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

So we have
1. not arrogant
2. NOt to boast
3. Do not insist on it own way.
.4 Patient
5. Kind

Do we apply this to our discussions??

then we have if you truly do not agree with them just avoid them I have seen this practiced by the mature followers of Christ and I commend them and hope to learn from them

2 Timothy 3:5
Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

2 Timothy 2:16-18
But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some.


2 Timothy 2:23-26
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.



I am pretty sure God does not want his followers bickering, if or should I say when we disagree with someone should we not state our case and then move one? when you see constant arguing and insisting on being right on and on and on again this can not be pleasing to the lord IMO the bible tells us to state your case once or twice and them move on, its up to the Holly Spirit to convict a person we can not.

Love Jesus with all your heart might and soul which means to obey his words, and all else will fall into place.

I think we all know the difference between arguing and genuine loving discussion of our Lord dont we?

As exhausting as it is, it is our responsibility as followers of Christ to reprove, rebuke and exhort with great patience and instruction. It kind of reminds me of the account in Mark 9:14-18 when Jesus came back to his disciples who were arguing with the crowd and scribes over not being able to cast out a demon of a boy due to their unbelief and a very annoyed Jesus said, “O unbelieving generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you?

I can understand the humanity aspect in that account with Jesus being extremely annoyed, as we try to do the same with others, that is, to have enough faith to do all things through Christ and to stand for the Word of God.
"For the time has come that people do not endure sound doctrine; but want to have their ears tickled, they accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires and have turned away their ears from the truth and have turned to myths." - 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Pride is a dangerous thing as mentioned in Proverbs 18:18 "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."

Who does God hear is the important question?
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:9-14

Do we apply this to our discussions??

No, not simply our discussions, but our everyday lives! For the fruits/traits of the Holy Spirit are, "... love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." - Galatians 5:22-23
Every follower of Christ has the Holy Spirit; for, "We, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." - Romans 8:9
So, if someone is not demonstrating these traits of the Holy Spirit we should examine and question if they (or we, for that matter) are "in the Spirit" or not.
That is not to say that we roll over neutered so as not to hurt peoples feelings. Remember, both Jesus and Paul rebuked Peter when he defied Jesus and when he did not want to go back out to the gentiles because of his fear of the Jews. Also, all throughout the latter book of Acts Paul was in debate within most of the Jewish synagogues (for 3 months in Acts 19:8).

I believe where the real issue is lies in truly defying what (or to be more precisely, who) the Word of God is (John 1:1-18, Revelation 19:13) so that we may have true unity under one body, that is, Christ. Jesus is the cornerstone and the founder of our faith but people would prefer to build their house on sand rather than be in unity on the rock. Matthew 7:24-27
