Sparrow
I found a sparrow by the road
Its still, small form devoid of life
I’ve read that God knows when they fall
Through accident or other strife
His Son has shown how much He loves
He knows where every sparrow flies
Their going out – their coming in
And all the moments of their lives
And if He loves this sparrow so
That lies beside this empty road
Will He then love us even more
Enough to help us bear our load?
His Son has said we are worth more
Than many sparrows on the wing
If this is true – we pray it is
This is great cause for hearts to sing
Somewhere there is a forest fair
A place prepared for man and bird
Yet both must die to fly so high
Enfolded in the Living Word
