As I was writing the words to this song, as the Lord Jesus was giving them to me, I was picturing in my mind the persecuted church throughout the world either in prison or in hiding, singing songs of praise to their God for his great salvation. I pictured that the night truly symbolized a time of great trouble and hardship to come upon the church, and so the church was lifting holy hands in prayer and in praise to their Lord despite their difficult circumstances. I also pictured that among them were new believers in Jesus Christ who were freshly praising their Lord for their newfound freedom in Christ. Oh, how glorious!

Songs in the Night / An Original Work / December 18, 2013

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God,
And the other prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25 NIV ‘84

Lord, I praise You forevermore.
You, my Savior, I now adore.
Hope in heaven awaiting me,
Because You died at Calvary.

I have been forgiven,
And I’m bound for heaven.
Jesus set me free from
All my sin, I say.
I will praise Him always!

Lord, I love You for all You’ve done:
Overcame death, my vict’ry won!
Jesus saved me, and now I’m free!
I rejoice in His love for me.

I will walk in vict’ry!
My sin is but hist’ry!
I am free to please Him
With my life today.
I will love Him always!

Lord, I thank You for giving me
A new life bought at Calvary.
Loving Jesus, I meet with Him.
Tender mercies now flow within.

Lord, I am so thankful;
Through my Lord, I’m able
To sit at His table;
Fellowship with Him.
I will thank Him always!

Yes....praise the Lord for the freedom we have in Him
For His great mercy

And we should be ever mindful of our persecuted brothers ad sisters who suffer for worshipping the Lord, for being Christians

How blessed we are here in Australia, how blessed Christians are in the USA, the UK and Western Europe

Thank You Lord

Yes, praise the Lord! Yes, we are blessed to have the freedom to give public testimony to being Christians (followers of Jesus Christ) without fear of physical torture or death, and to be able to meet publicly with other believers in Jesus without same, and to be able to publicly share Christ on forums such as these, etc. And, absolutely we should be ever mindful of our persecuted brothers and sisters throughout the world who suffer greatly just for being Christians, but also because they declare the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and because they are serious about their walks of faith, and that serves as a great threat to Satan's kingdom.

Yet, we should also be ever mindful of those followers of Christ in the West and in Australia, too, who are also suffering much persecution, maybe not because they claim to be Christians, and maybe not yet to the point of physical torture or death, but because they are serious about their walks of faith in a day and time when many people are very casual about their faith and don't take God and his word so seriously. We must be mindful of these who suffer such persecution because they dare to stand on what is true in a day and time when the gospel is being diluted in favor of what is more socially acceptable and what appeals to human flesh. Many, like Paul described in 1 Co. 4, are being treated like the scum of the earth and the refuse of the world to be discarded, and are being told "We don't have need of you" by their brothers and sisters in Christ, as is talked about in 1 Co. 12, because they "don't fit" with today's church's business plans and marketing schemes for how to build their churches, i.e. their businesses, and because they offend people with the truth of the gospel which teaches death to sin, and living to righteousness.

Revelation 12:17: "So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus."

We should pray for ALL those who are suffering such persecution all over the world, because Satan is fighting hard against those who are walking closely with their Lord and who are sharing the true gospel, calling people to repentance and to faith (or renewed faith) in Jesus Christ.

Thank you, as always, for sharing your heart. It blesses me over and over again.
