The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, "Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies--I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! 1 Kings 3:10-12 NLT
In the New Testament, James 1:5 begins with these words: “If you need wisdom.” Maybe it’s good to personalize this verse by imagining it saying, “When you need wisdom.” Between work, family, ministry, and other important parts of your life, you have a lot on your plate—and you need wisdom every day. Every guy does!
You need wisdom to live an unshakable life. And the good news is that God wants to give it to you—just like He wanted to give it to Solomon. He’ll never look down on you when you ask for wisdom, and He’ll always give it to you so that you can grow and flourish in every area of your life. Count on it!
Prayer: Lord, I need wisdom to lead my family, to do the work You’ve given me to do, and to live a godly life. Do what You need to do in order to give me the wisdom I need—today and every day.
