Some Are Brutish In their False Doctrines
Jeremiah 51:17 "Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them."
In Joel 3: 14-15, the valley of decision, and at the time of the Threshing Floor of Jeremiah 51: 33, God is opening up scriptures that were not fully opened before, or were wrongly interpreted.. But many cannot accept God's opening of certain scriptures because of their false doctrines.
"A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up; for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols." Jeremiah 50: 38
In the New Covenant timeline being mad upon their idols means they are mad upon their false doctrines. They are brutish in their knowledge, which is their false doctrines.
Jeremiah 12: 10: "Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness."
Ezekiel 2: 3-6: "And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.
And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house."
Everything, of course, is literal, and the scorpions who speak words could not be the people of Old Covenant Israel gone off into false doctrines and false practices. In the New Covenant era the scorpions teach false doctrines.
Isaiah 28:15 "Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:"
Whether or not Isaiah knew what the overflowing scourage might be in the end time, what he says here applies to what is called the tribulation of Matthew 24: 29-30.
