So You Want To Love People Like Jesus Did.
Here is what Jesus did all the time, over and over because He loved people and still does (Hebrews 13:8). Here is what any Christian can do, AND here is what Jesus commands us to do. The reason we do not is that we allow the devils/wrong teaching to convince us we need a special anointing or gift, make us afraid to pray for people in public outside 'church', make us afraid it might not work, or that people have to be saved to get healed. Jesus healed and delivered many that were not saved, did not believe, and one was dead! Please see John 5:1-15, John chapter 9, in Luke 7:11-17 and Mark 5:34-43 no one "believed" except Jesus. In Mark 9:18-24 the father did not believe. Note Jesus did not say to come back when you can believe. He did what was needed at he time from a heart of compassion by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Please be aware that Jesus voluntarily gave up the independent use of His Godly powers like omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence and had to minister just as we do; from a heart of compassion by the Holy Spirit in us.See Hebrews 2:17-18, Philippians 2:7 and Acts 10:38.

Mark 16:17-18 New King James Version (NKJV) 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[a] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Remember, we have the power living in us that raises the dead! The Holy Spirit wants to do these things through us. NOW! Please note it says "those who believe". ANY believer can do these things, even in Walmart! And besides it is FUN!!I can give anyone a link that is excellent on the "how to" if they wish. Please remember the devil will oppose you in this with everything he has. He will even try to convince you it is not for today or has passed away. Faith in this case means continuing to do these things even if results are not apparent or immediate. Zero people prayed for to be healed, delivered or raised from the dead equals 0 results.
If not us who? If not now when?

And it is a good Scripture you mention in Hebrews 13:8 for Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has always loved His Elect, He died for His Elect, those whose names are written by God in the book of life of the lamb slain before the foundation of the world. And God does not change. Christ does not change. Christ did not change the Law of Moses, He fulfilled the Law of Moses. And through Union with Christ we who are of His Body, of His Elect fulfill the Law of Moses as well.

It is not our "compassion" that we minister. It is through obedience to God. In order to be obedient to God we must first be saved. Once saved we are given a calling and ministry and command as well as spiritual gifts to accomplish that call, but always through Biblical discipleship and obedience. Christ did not send anyone out until they were first discipled. Sadly, Biblical discipleship is sorely lacking in the Church today. Sunday evening, mid-week Bible Study, retreats into the mountains or camping areas is not Biblical discipleship.

Real good subject Lesjude! Christianity teaches the believer to love as Jesus loved (John 15:12); meaning no longer love others as you love yourself, which is conditional and Old Covenant (Lev 19:18), which Jesus was reiterating (Matt 22:40). But in the New Covenant, it's as you stated, to love as Jesus loved; no longer as you love yourself, which is conditional, but as Jesus loved, which is unconditional.

I agree with you on doctrine and discipleship.

You wrote that only the twelve were empowered to perform the command.

In the Gospel of Luke the apostles complain to Jesus about others casting out
demons in the name of Jesus. Please read the response of Jesus.

Luke 9
49 Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name,
and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”

Are you saying that a Christian has to keep the law to be saved like the feasts, circumcision, the dietary laws, etc? If you are that is HERSEY!

Judas was not saved nor did the man healed in John 5:1-15 stop sinning. see verse 16. The man in Matthew 19:16-22 was not saved. The parents of the man in John 9:22 denied Christ.

If you do not like any of those do it on the basis of John 14:12. Besides your religious opinions are too late because we and others we know are already doing Matthew 10:7- 8 and Mark 16:17-18. The command is quite clear in Mark which says those who BELIEVE will do what Jesus says.
