site slow for anyone?

Is the site moving slowly for anyone else? I know Chad made some changes recently that should make it go faster. It could be my computer - that's why I'm asking....to figure out if it's me or maybe other's are experiencing it. Our's is 6 years old but we've kept it updated & have DSL. I haven't been able to really post much lately because it would take hours to move thru stuff. Any thoughts???

Could go through and speed it up by turning off some stuff...

Start > Run > Type msconfig > click Slective startup circle thing > click startup tab.

Uncheck AIM if you have it, Quicktime, Windows Messenger, All the adobe stuff. It all starts when a program asks for it anyway, no reason to Run it all the time.

Also, you could try switching to Firefox over IE if you havnt already. www.firefox.com

Would also Recommend A good Virus scanner and some kind of Spyware scanner, both can be found at www.majorgeek.com

If you want to post whats in your MSconfig startup tab I can tell you what to turn off. If you have someone who knows computers well handy, have them go through the services.msc and clean them up.

Clear your browser's temp cache as well.

Thanks guys. It does sound like it's our computer, but it's doing fine today. Chad we have DSL...but lately it seems as slow as our dial up was.

I'll have to give this information to my husband. I know our memory is just about full. We've dumped a lot of stuff so I'm not sure why it's so full. We do have a virus & spyware scanner that runs frequently. We do use IE.

One thing...it won't defrag...it says there isn't enough space. We do keep files cleaned out tho.

Hi Sapphire, I clicked on "Tools" at the top of the page, then the "Security" tab, then clicked on "trusted sites" then on clicked on "Add" and put in "talkJesus" address in as safe site. Once address is in. security applications etc will not block "talkJesus" as you have nominated it as a safe site.
My last computer was 3-4 years old and i had to "refresh" every 30mins or so as the page froze when i was in "live chat".
i upgraded my computer 2 days ago and WOW. I can get around the site quickly. Posts etc are not slow anymore. It was my old computer that caused that to happen.
I hope you can upgrade soon as "talkJesus" site is worth every $ it costs to have a faster computer!
