Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. Ecclesiastes 12:13

If the God who made everything had a plan for your life, would you follow it? If the God who knew your name before you were born gave you a purpose, would it change how you live? If the God who’s making a place for you in His future called you to active duty in your faith, would you do everything you could to follow the Leader? Well, He does have a plan, He’s given you a purpose, and He calls you to active duty.

Today’s verse is simple and profound. It contains impressive wisdom and divine directive. It contains the core of God’s will for you.

While there’s a fear of God that’s connected to pending judgment (think Noah), the use of the term in this verse is positively reinforcing the view that God is awe-inspiring and worthy of the highest priority in your thinking and actions.

Keeping His commands points to your willingness to follow His leadership. By agreeing to follow, you’re saying you believe He holds the key to truth and correct thinking.

By saying, this is the duty of all mankind, you can begin to see that even before the Bible said, “God so loved the world” (John 3:16), He had a plan for every woman, child, and man. The question isn’t whether God has a plan; it’s whether you’ll follow.
