Shrimp Boats - April 30, 2007
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Shrimp is one of my favorite shellfish. After they are netted, brought in and prepared ,they can be used in so many ways.
While in Savannah, I saw a lot of shrimp boats, bobbing along in the Atlantic Ocean, busily doing their job. As I looked out the window and watched several of these boats I was intrigued. They seemed to move at such a leisurely pace, going steadily on course, with their nets sunk deep below the waters' surface. The booms extended from each side of the boat, keeping the nets in the proper position to catch those shrimp.
I thought, that is like God... moving along in this world at His steady pace, with His arms extended wide, like those shrimp booms. He is ready and willing to scoop us up into His arms of love- to gather us unto Himself. After we are gathered unto Him, we, like the shrimp, can be used in so many ways to further His kingdom on earth. No , we won't be peeled, breaded, boiled, or baked, but we will be used in a special plan He has devised just for us. Isn't it a blessing that you have been scooped up in God 's net of unending and everlasting love ?
