Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. Luke 2:10 NKJV
One amazing night—the night Jesus our Lord made His arrival on earth—a group shepherds were tending their sheep not far from the town of Bethlehem. All was quiet…until the silence and darkness were broken when “an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them” (Luke 2:9).
The men were terrified, but the angel quickly calmed their fears and announced, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11). Then, a host of angels appeared on the scene, proclaiming, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is please!” (Luke 2:14).
The message of salvation is often called the “Good News,” and it is most certainly that. It’s good news because Jesus’ arrival on earth brings the offer of salvation to the whole world. Always be ready when God gives you a chance to open your heart and share the news!
Prayer: Lord, the announcement of salvation through Jesus is indeed good news. Please give me courage to speak that news to those who desperately need to hear it.
