this is found in the niv

Jesus says in matthew that he never came to abolish the law but in ephesians 2:15 paul says Jesus abolished the law in His flesh.

This is in the king james

In james 1 :14 it says God does not tempt anyone but in Genesis (the account of the sacrafice of issac) says God tempted abraham.

i am a christian and just want to know if anyone knows why this is.

I think all your missing for the law question is the context there were laws that Israel had to keep that where a foreshadow of the life and death of Christ on earth so after Jesus fullfilled them in His life then they were no longer needed. but the moral law which Jesus is speaking of is eternal it is the law of His kingdome (Ten Commandments) this is true throughout the new and old testement that the moral law stands on its own in fact the other laws where put in place because we broke the moral law.

eg some of the laws pointed to Jesus life on earth but after Jesus came and fullfilled them then Jesus is now in place of that law why because we have broken the ten commandments therfore this is the new and better covonent because we have grace through Jesus and are no longer bound by the Ten Commandments.

now let me make this clear I did not say we no longer keep the Ten Commandments Paul said we should uphold them because of the grace givne in the book of romans. but they have no power over those who have the grace of Jesus we are no longer underthe condemnation of the law yet a true follower of CHrist will keep them out of love for Christ as a reaction not an action.

As for the tempted one we must understand soemthing about the old Testament it was written in a vocal culture and thus oppisits can be the same if that makes any sence study into it and you will see. anyway again its context here when it says God does not tempt anyone its talking in context of sin. eg GOd will never tempt anyone to sin. while on the other hand abraham was told or inspired by GOd to kill his son as a test this was not sin it is never sin to obey GOd. in fact obedience to God is essential to have a proper Christian walk.

hope this helps a little study it up and see for yourself and remember we must have an knowledge of the whole Bible as a whole in correct understanding through the holy spitit if we are going to understande singulare exts throught the Bible .

Well i think i can help maybe. Jesus said that not one thing would depart from the law until all was fulfilled, this was before the cross. After the cross Paul taught that this changed, as in no more ordinances of the law. They were nailed to the cross, that's why we see a different view, before the cross, and after the cross.

As for the tempting of someone by God, James 1 :14 as you say, also says that God temps no one with evil. This doesn't mean that he can't or won't tempt you to do good. lol i think i have God tempting me to do good all the time, if you know what i mean.

And i know for sure that the account of Abraham and Isaac wasn't an act of evil, or a temptation to do evil. It was a test. We are not immune from trial and tribulation. As the scripture says, all things work together for good to them who love the lord.
