Seeking Wealth

I have firmly believed for some time that with nearly everyone, the "more" worldly goods we have, the further we will travel "away" from the Lord. You cannot love God and money, you can be lukewarm toward God, and love money (and you know where that leaves you), or you can be lukewarm toward money (using it to provide our "needs" is good, so a lukewarm attitude can be good)and love God. Many ppl love to move to states that have the best business opportunities to increase wealth. I have seen a report on yahoo news that was put out by Scott Cohn, CNBC, that lists the five worst states for business. I know a bit about no. 48, the 3rd worst state for business. Many there live in what many of us would call poverty.
West Virginia no. 48
Unchanged from 2012, the Mountain State notches its worst numbers in the Workforce category, where it finishes last. Workers there are the nation's least-educated, population growth is stagnant, and its heavy union presence—West Virginia is a non-right-to-work state—hurts it in the category. West Virginia also comes in last for Business Friendliness. Even in its strongest category, Cost of Doing Business, West Virginia can manage no better than 19th place.

And Hawaii no. 50
America's Bottom State for Business turns in a dismal performance across the board—almost. It has the worst Infrastructure, the highest Cost of Living, minimal Access to Capital and among the highest Cost of Doing Business. After we ranked the state near the bottom in 2012, an economic development official was quoted as saying, "We always rank at the bottom. It's not something new."
But the Bottom State does have one thing going for it: the nation's Top Quality of Life. And with that, America's Bottom State for Business 2013—Hawaii—gets the last laugh.

Amagine that ... greater business opportunity doesnt always provide more wealth and subsequent happiness. :shade:

Hi Brad,

I run a family owned business. We are all Christians. For over thirty years I have been striving for wealth so I can continue to pay our bills and provide for our workers and their families. We put God based adds on TV and 11 radio stations. I have learned that God can bless us with business even when our adds run out side are market area. For over fourty years we have supported a family in missions. God has not made us rich on earth but we have survived since 1921 as God's stewards.

It is possible to strive for wealth and purpose in your heart to live for God.

I try my best not to judge any man even though the inclination is there in all of us I think. I have seen many who are worse off spiritually because of their striving for wealth. If you work hard, serving God first, family second, and then business, then whatever wealth comes your way is great. But if "anyone" puts business first or second with the thought, "I will use the profits to help advance the kingdom of God", they are fooling only themselves. God is certainly not fooled, and the family certainly suffers.
