Search me, oh God, and know my Heart

LAMENTATIONS 3:40-41
Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to
the Lord. Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven.

PSALM 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know
my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead
me in the way everlasting.

PSALM 19:12-13
Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.
Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them
not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I
shall be innocent of great transgression.

PSALM 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a
contrite heart - these, O God, You will not despise.

PSALM 26:2
Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.

JOHN 3:20-21
For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not
come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds
may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

PSALM 17:5
Uphold my steps in Your path, that my footsteps may not slip.

PSALM 25:20-21
Keep my soul, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed, for I
put my trust in You. Let integrity and uprightness preserve
me, for I wait for You.

PSALM 141:8
But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; In You I take
my refuge; do not leave my soul destitute.

I always called it the man prayer. When ever I pray search me and try me and see if there be any wicked way in me, I always get slapped in the face with reality. The beauty in the gospel to me is that God desires a personal relationship with His children, he desired it so much he sacrificed himself on the cross. I think it is good for us as Christians to really examine ourselves and be sure we are in the faith.

(2 Corinthians 13:5) "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

The gospel isn't just a salvation message, it is our continuous victory over our sinful flesh. I submit to the brethren, we need the gospel daily.

(Matthew 6:11) " Give us this day our daily bread."

(John 6:35) "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

This quite possibly gets my vote for post of the year.

It's one of the few posts that shows how our hearts connect with God. How we begin to want what he wants, and how we become willing to change for him.
A favorite line from a song we sing at my church says "break my heart for what breaks yours". Oh to be more like him everyday.

Psa 51:10; Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psa 51:11; Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Psa 51:12; Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

Such a deep thought provoking post sister

Yes O Lord search my heart unto only You reign glorious

It brought to mind a most beautiful old hymn

Search me, O God, my actions try,
And let my life appear
As seen by Thine all-searching eye
To mine my ways make clear.

Search all my sense, and know my heart
Who only canst make known,
And let the deep, the hidden part
To me be fully shown.

Throw light into the darkened cells,
Where passion reigns within;
Quicken my conscience till it feels
The loathsomeness of sin.

Search all my thoughts, the secret springs,
The motives that control;
The chambers where polluted things
Hold empire o’er the soul.

Search, till Thy fiery glance has cast
Its holy light through all,
And I by grace am brought at last
Before Thy face to fall.

Thus prostrate I shall learn of Thee,
What now I feebly prove,
That God alone in Christ can be
Unutterable love*
