RIP - Rest in Peace.
RIP - Rest in Peace. That's a great title for Colossians 3. Listen to some of the Apostle Paul's words from that chapter. "For you have DIED and your life is hidden with Christ... Put to DEATH the evil desires lurking in your body... Put on the new self who is being renewed... Let the PEACE of Christ rule in your hearts." See how it is? We die to our selves and our old sin nature, and then we rest in the peace of God.
He clothes us with the righteousness of Christ, discarding our corrupted way of life. It may take a while for many of us to grasp what has actually happened. Some of us go on living as if we were still clothed in our old carnal nature. All of us struggle at times with the need to "put to death" the evil desires that remain in our flesh. But, we must all comprehend the glorious "new nature" Christ has placed in us. And in accordance with that comprehension, we must all strive to be mastered by the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. In order to rest in the peace of Christ, we must learn to let the Word of Christ dwell richly within us. Then, and only then, will we have the strength to "do everything we do in the Name of Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God." God be with you all...
