A small Hewa village in a remote area of Papua New Guinea is hearing evangelistic Bible teaching.
Missionaries Jonathan and Susan Kopf arrived in the village last month by helicopter. The 35 people in the village had a small house built for their guests, complete with an outhouse and a shower house.
The Hewas had prepared a feast for the Kopfs' arrival. "Some of the young men had been hunting and had been able to kill four small game animals as well as a wild boar and a snake that looked to be easily over ten feet long," the Kopfs wrote.
For the past month, the people have been meeting four days a week, twice a day, to hear about the God of Creation and key Old Testament stories. Next week, the Hewas will begin hearing about the life of Christ.
"They have continually showed eager interest in the Word, with almost perfect attendance," the Kopfs wrote. "Please pray that the Holy Spirit will convict our village friends of their sin so that they will be ready to turn to the Lord for forgiveness and an eternal relationship with their Creator."
