Receive the"Holy Spirit"

Hi, I'm new here...I have accepted "Jesus Christ" as my Lord and Savior! although I have not joined any particular church or denomination as yet......you see after I read "John 16" King James version" I became very excited.....can anyone tell me how I can acquire the "Spirit of Truth" that will lead me into all truth and show me things to come ?....or what church I have to join ?....speaking in tongues and not understanding what it is your saying doesn't really grab me...I think "Paul"said it was the least of the gifts and not very important anyway......If someone can advise me here I would be very grateful.

You are certainly asking the right questions.
If you read John 17 you will see that Jesus prayed to the Father about those who would come to believe through "the one whom God sent".If you believe that The father answered Jesus's prayer then you will have an idea of what to expect.

James 1:5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.


Ask God to give you wisdom,then believe that he will guide you to the truth(Jesus is the Truth).


Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.


If we believe we have received something then we don't need to ask again.
We simply thank God in faith that we have received.


Then hang on because if you have even a little faith something will happen.
I don't know what because God knows each us personally and he knows exactly what you need to increase in him.

I had been a 'christian' for many years. But not really... not until the day I looked up to Jesus and asked Him to Come into me with His Holy Spirit Self...

stepup: You, without question must belong to a body of beleivers! Without other believers your growth is stuck in a rut, and not musg growth will happen. Have you been baptised yet Jesus said to follow His example. Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. You have the soirit of truth in you right now! The Holy Spirit lives in you when you surrender to Jesus and become a follower of Jesus. Here is a book for you that will help you grow "NOT A FAN" Christian Book stores will have it. You must start you new life in Jesus right or you might just die on the vine. That is what the church is for....to nurish new Christians. After you get in a church or get the book please keep this thread informed,,,,,,, ok?
