They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. Isaiah 61:4
Believers in the old covenant were all about rebuilding, raising up, repairing, and redeeming. But Believers in the new covenant have a better, clearer picture of what that looks like when they transform something that was sinful into something that is used for the Lord’s purposes.
A West Palm Beach church took over a former strip club in 2019 with plans to open in 2020. The reverend of NewSound Church said the former facility was being transformed into a church building that would hold six hundred to seven hundred people.
“I don’t mind being in a building that was a strip club any more than I mind somebody walking in our doors that had at one time in their life been a stripper,” The pastor said in a CNN story, “I believe that God is opening up some doors that a 20-month-old church can’t open by themselves.”
What are you currently doing to rebuild ancient ruins or to transform something for God’s glory? It doesn’t have to be a major overhaul. You can restart a church library, offer to fix the cars of single mothers, become a mentor, or many other things.
Prayer: Lord, use me as a means of transformation.
