Quicksand

Quicksand

I was walking in quicksand, not going anywhere but down
I tried calling for help but, no one seems to notice or care
I felt stuck, started feeling like giving up and drowning

It all started when I saw someone else fall in their own quicksand
I thought that wouldn’t happen to me, Started to judge him instead of help
Didn’t see the quicksand of self-righteousness

Here I am walking in quicksand again, not going anywhere but down
I tried calling for help, but no one seems to care or notice
I felt stuck, started feeling like giving up and drowning

It all started when I saw someone I didn’t like fall in their own quicksand
Thought finely got what they deserved, thinking of vengeance instead of help
Didn’t see the quicksand of hate

But, again here I am walking in quicksand again, not going anywhere
I tried calling for help, no one seems to notice or care that I’m in again
I felt stuck, started giving up and drowning again

It all started when I saw someone else fall in their own quicksand
I thought I better help this time, but he slapped my hand away
I gave up walked away fell in my own quicksand of pride

There's quicksand of pride, hate, addictions, self-righteousness and selfishness
Easy to fall in, hard to get out, easy to blame, hard to see own stupidity
Cry out to Christ fast in this quicksand you sink from within

I say someone pushed me in, you say I walked in on my freewill
I say no one will help me out, you say I keep pushing help away
You say drop everything, let it go, take the hand of faith walk on

Oh, Lord I don’t know why I keep falling in my own quicksand
Oh, Lord thank you for pulling me out time after time again
Oh, Lord when am I going to learn to keep my eyes on you
