Answers...

In this passage Jesus prays the Psalm not expressing God's forsakeneness...but it is an expression of his trust in God's loving care...
Second Passage Jesus affirms if Jesus is good only because He is God in human nature...God's goodness in Jesus...

Did God the Father forsake Christ as he hung on the cross??

The answer is no, he did not. We have to remember that Jesus took all of our sins on himself. What does that mean. Well, it means that everything we ever did or said that we would have had to die for according to old testament laws, he took on himself. If we reversed that, we would find that we would be hanging on that cross just like the two thieves were and not Jesus. We would have had to die to atone for our own sins. Who would our friends be when we were hanging on the cross? Maybe a family member or two. Who could have taken us down from the cross? No one. Why not? Because God made the law to read as it does and it couldn't be changed just to get us off the cross. It was the same with Jesus. While we houg there dying, Christ came by and said, "Take that man/woman down. I'll take their places. Christ took our place on the cross so he died the same way we would have died, the painful way. We could have cried out but God didn't make a provision in the law for some to be removed and some to die so we would have stayed on the cross until death took us. Jesus died in the same way that we would have died. He felt everything we would have felt. He went through it all and He did it the same way we would have. He took our places.

'My God my God why hast thou forsaken me' God did forsake His Son Jesus. There was no other option. God the Father cannot look upon sin. This is typified in the Old Testament sacrifices. Jesus "became sin for us" on the cross God the Father cannot look upon sin. God the Father forsook Him at that point in time. Jesus was the "Lamb of God........which taketh away the sin od the world" To take it away Jesus had to take it up.

'Why callest thou me good, there is none good but God' Jesus came to earth as a man. He lived throughout His life as a man. "Tempted in all point as we, yet without sin"
Looking at the context here, it ends with the rich man going away sorrowful....There was some lesson here in Jesus words?

separation

in isaiah ch 59 vs 2 states that our sins have separated us from our God. that is something that Jesus never experienced, because he never had sin. when he took our sins upon himself it in fact resulted in a separation. not that he had sinned but that the sins of the world was laid on him. what a burden to bear! thats why i believe Jesus said that because he was in PERFECT fellowship with god.

I agree with the pp's and also think it's important to clarify that Jesus suffered the wrath of God the Father for every past, present and future sin to be committed by his flock - the wrath that we would have experienced had He not taken our place.

I Sure Love You Father

Jesus loves our Father and all the honor due Jesus, was given by Him to our Father, hence Jesus said that there was no one good, but His Father. He was a true and faithful Son, who honored His Father all His years on earth.

I'd like to know more about why our Heavenly Father couldn't look at sin, when it seems that all through the OT, He was dealing with sinners. I love our Father and I believe He looks at my sins and magnifies them sometimes, when I fall of base.

Interesting answers. God bless and Amen to Him:Pixie:love: :sun:
