32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

"likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things"
- what things exactly?

wars and famine & plagues have always been on earth (verse 7)

Wars and famines and plagues have always been on the Earth. Thats right Jari, but not in the scale it is today. Today we see small wars all over the planet, not just in isolated spots. Famines are not a cyclical, or localized thing like they used to be, but are wide spread encompassing entire continents at times. The plagues are again not at the scales they once were. Aids is worldwide, different types of flu run rampant everywhere. It used to be that a plague would wipe out a hundred people in a tiny province of Africa and that was Earth shattering news. Nowadays if only a hundred people die on any given continent nobody notices.

Earthquakes? In 2000 there were 1505 earthquakes mag 6 and above, worldwide. In 2011 there were 2477 quakes of 6 and up. The entire Earth is groaning under the weight of sin. Sin is literally tearing this planet apart. And as sin grows in the Earth all these things will grow too because they are a direct result of sin. And not just the Earth but all of creation groans in travail...Rom 8

Hello Jari.

What a good question.

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Ultimately it is the return of Christ, "know that it is near".

The preceding verses are as follows,

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the
powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will
appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the
Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather
together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The figs will need to be harvested in summer, on His return.

Oops

Sorry...I said the total of earthquakes over 6 in 2000 was 1505 and in 2011 the number was 2477. That's wrong. The number over six in 2000 was a only 146 and in 2011 there were 185

The numbers I gave were the total number of all earthquakes for those two years.

Sorry

bro i think you should check how many wars there has been in history. i personally have watched many war themed movies and am quite familiar with this. The medieval times were very warry on earth.. there was not much peace and diplomacy back then. same with biblical times. everybody have always pretty much conquered whenever they can. alone europe was very warry in medieval times but as well in 17th century times and there really hasnt been much peace. actually today is more peaceful in europe than it used to be as theres ZERO wars. only wars are in saudi-arabia now. and africa has its rebel / civil war issues.

Whole america is also perfectly peaceful, so is asia.
so in that sense its pretty quiet isnt it?
we hear rumors of wars though. but amount of war is fairly little.

And what comes to earthquakes they are localized to certain parts of earth only. in europe theres never earthquakes. it just isnt that kind of territory.

David777 , thanks but this does not quite answer my main question, maybe i didnt get it?

Well...at this moment there are 40 ongoing conflicts (wars) happening worldwide. The earliest ongoing conflict started in 1948 Believe it or not....The Korean conflict. Yup. The latest being the Tuareg Rebellion which started in 2011 This does not mention the war between the Ishmaelites and Israel. Most of these 41 including the Palestinians and Israel, are in Africa and the middle East, and these are just ongoing wars.

There were 13 conflicts between 1945-1949

You watched movies and know about wars?! Wow! How accurate are the movies?

In the last ten years there were earthquakes all around the 'ring of fire' If you don't know what that is...Google is really handy. Try it.

I live in an area of this planet that has no earthquakes too. BUT!! The machines record upward of 400 quakes here each year. There is no such thing as an area with no tectonic acitvity on the Earth. It all moves all the time. We live on rock. Right? Rock is very elastic.

From Wikipedia "Tectonic earthquakes occur anywhere in the earth where there is sufficient stored elastic strain energy to drive fracture propagation along a fault plane. The sides of a fault move past each other smoothly and aseismically only if there are no irregularities or asperities along the fault surface that increase the frictional resistance. Most fault surfaces do have such asperities and this leads to a form of stick-slip behaviour. Once the fault has locked, continued relative motion between the plates leads to increasing stress and therefore, stored strain energy in the volume around the fault surface. This continues until the stress has risen sufficiently to break through the asperity, suddenly allowing sliding over the locked portion of the fault, releasing the stored energy. This energy is released as a combination of radiated elastic strain seismic waves, frictional heating of the fault surface, and cracking of the rock, thus causing an earthquake. This process of gradual build-up of strain and stress punctuated by occasional sudden earthquake failure is referred to as the elastic-rebound theory. It is estimated that only 10 percent or less of an earthquake's total energy is radiated as seismic energy. Most of the earthquake's energy is used to power the earthquake fracture growth or is converted into heat generated by friction. Therefore, earthquakes lower the Earth's available elastic potential energy and raise its temperature, though these changes are negligible compared to the conductive and convective flow of heat out from the Earth's deep interior.[2]"

hmm but as major comflicts there arent so many. its just people have always been so warry. and i did little research that shows how history is full of conflicts before 21th century without no break at all. Every year has some invasion or battle. the nature of war has changed a lot though so its bit difficult to compare. there used to be more single battles when today theres more long term conflicts.
which is also because worlds population has increased massively and everything is in bigger scale.

yes i google about "war history" and there is lot of wars..

I think bible talks about earthquakes that effect us and are experienced. not just the vibres that are detectable only by machines.

I take from the scripture that wars, famine, rumors of war, earthquakes will always be around. So when the second coming does take place, these things will still be going on.

Humanity have always had wars all over the world. Sometimes it is more calm then other times. Humanity has been around for an estimated 100K years or more. There could have been 200 wars between nations or tribes going on at some point. The amount of wars in the world will constantly change. It will go up, and it will go down.

You watched movies and know about wars?! Wow! How accurate are the movies?

I assume that he has heard about wars from the movies, and then understands that there have been a lot of them. How accurate the movies were (unless the war is entirely fiction itself) isn't exactly important. Also, the number of earthquakes every year or certain time period change randomly. Some years have more than others. Some years have less than others. Further unbiased research will explain that it isn't rare, but a common issue with earthquakes.

Good!! "As in the days of Noah..."

Absolutely right!! So then things will be going on as normal when JESUS comes for us? I think so...

So then What are the signs of HIS coming?

Here is the crux of it all...We don't know exactly when HE is coming so. Live like HE is coming two hours, two minutes from now.

Matthew 25:1-13 (King James Version)

Matthew 25

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

parable of the fig tree

Jari,
I used to believe and teach many of the same things that are being mentioned in this thread BUT no longer. We have to remember that Christ's words are Spirit (John 6:63) and as such, their meaning must be spiritually discerned. His meaning is not to be taken literally. That is why when Christ ended a teaching, He said "for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear" (or words to that effect). The true meaning is concealed from the masses and only revealed to those whom Christ chooses. Scripture says that Christ only taught in parables so that the meaning would be concealed. All His teachings, even those in Matthew 24 are to be spiritually discerned. We are at the mercy of Christ to heal our spiritual vision before the scriptures will open up to us. The parable of the fig tree applies to the "chosen" ever since the day of Pentecost. Some of the persons in the generation to whom Christ was speaking, experienced Christ's second coming before their deaths. They were and are the "chosen".

The "chosen" understand because they have eyes that see spiritually and ears that hear spiritually. The "called" are spiritually blind. Mark 8:22-26 explains this concept. All the "called" (carnal Christians) but not chosen will never see the second coming of Christ in this life time. It is not their fault, Christ simply has not chosen them to be in His church. Unless a "called" individual experiences the events in Matthew 24 in their life times at some point, they will not be in Christ's church. They will go the broad way that leads to destruction and will experience the second coming of Christ at some point in the final age which I call the Lake of Fire age.

The book of Revelation likewise must be spiritually discerned and is closed to those who are spiritually blind. Much of its teachings apply to the individual and the process Christ takes the "chosen" through in order for them to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The many doctrines concerning the "endtimes" that are taught in the mainstream churches are completely false. There is not a last 7 years of Daniel's prophecy that is waiting to be fulfilled. The state of Israel is just as lost as they have ever been and will not be converted until the end of the Lake of Fire age. Then "all Israel will be saved". We live in tribulation now just as the first Christians did. Entrance into Christ's church is for those "chosen" upon whom the ends of the ages have come now, in our life times:

1Cor 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the age are come.

The ends of the ages have come upon each "chosen" or "elect" person since the time of Christ.
All the "stories" of the Old testament are to be spiritually discerned as well. Those "upon whom the ends of the ages are come" in this life now are those whom Christ has "chosen" to be in His church. He comes to the "called" a second time (spiritual second coming) in their life times and heals their spiritual vision so that they no longer "see men walking as trees" but see them clearly. If and when this happens to a "called" individual, they have been "chosen".

When a person is first called, He enters the church but because of their spiritual blindness, they are quickly and easily deceived by Satan and begin following "another Jesus" who is actually Satan. This time spent in the harlot church spiritually equates to the 40 years the Jews wandered in the desert. Only the "chosen" enter the promise land (Joshua & Caleb). All the others die in the desert, just as the "called" Christians die carnal following "another Jesus" in their life times. They will not be heirs of the promise but so that they scriptures will not be broken, they will be saved with the rest of mankind during the Lake of Fire age. Christ is truly the Savior of the world. His church first (first fruits of the harvest) and then the full harvest of mankind at the end of the harvest season (final age).

I would be happy to answer your questions if the Lord moves you to ask but please make them very specific.

May the Lord bless you,
Joe

this isnt true.
let me ask you something , do you believe writings of apostoles, like Paul?

if you do please consider this. Paul said not everyone is an apostole infact he believed God had set apostoles as the last ones of their kind. And he also said everybody must do according to measure of faith given to him. he also said there are diversities positions in church, each member has its own purpose there to edify each other.

so no everyone does have to go mat 24 in spiritual sense. we are saved by grace and Jesus is the narrow gate.

God bless you.

LOL But we digress So...how does this fit into the subject at hand? "In the last days there will be wars and rumors of wars...."

the point is if we are to determine according parable of fig tree something we can only say the world is warry as it has always been.

Yes, I believe all scriptures (including those penned by Paul) and there are 12 apostles and no more. Seven years ago, I would have said the same thing that "this isn't true". But until Christ comes to a person a second time and heals their spiritual vision, they simply cannot see no matter how much light you shine on the scriptures. That is what it means to be "blind", they cannot see. Only the Lord heals the blind, I cannot.

It is true that we are saved by grace. The grace of God gives us the faith of Christ, the earnest of His Spirit, causes us to repent, teaches us His Truth and chastises us to turn from our carnal ways. EVERYTHING that is necessary to follow Christ, comes from Christ and is because of His grace. Our salvation does not come from within ourselves lest we should boast. He loves us all and will save us all but only in accordance His plan that He laid out before the creation began. The "first fruits" of the harvest will be the Kings and priests that will rule and reign with Christ upon His visible return to earth (the return that you see). However, He comes to those He chooses to be in His church during that "chosen" person's life, unless no flesh would survive and there would be no church - He are at His mercy. It is not our choice but His choice. The "man of sin" that dwells within each carnal person says that we can control our own destiny but not so. There is nothing within us that is good or even seeks good. Until the Father draws us to Christ (John 6:44), we hate Him.

Christ has been building His church since the generation that heard His words in Matthew 24. The process does not change. Someday all mankind will be drawn to Christ and find His salvation but not today in this age. We must be patience and wait on the Lord and it will all be accomplished in due time.

1Tim 2:4-6 who will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the Truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

The doctrine of the mainstream church denies that Christ can actually accomplish saving mankind. They are merely blind to the Truth and do not know the plan of God and that is by God will for it to be that way. He will not fail to fulfill the above scripture in "due time".

May the Lord bless you,
Joe

if its something that cannot be backed up with bible then its impossible to know.
but you are using stereotypes of christians to say anyone who isnt enlighted cannot see. i dont think its very good to use such stereotypes.

besides i dont think mat 24 was a parable. Jesus said fig tree was a parable.

Jari,
Everything I have said is supported by multiple scriptures. Everything that Christ taught to the masses was a type of parable whether or not He said it was a parable. The scripture says He only taught the masses in parables and His Word cannot be broken. His word is Spirit. The spiritually blind cannot see it nor do they understand it and it is meant to be so. Only Christ heals the blind. We are all born into this world as carnal creatures who are spiritually blind. Until Christ comes to us and takes away our blindness, we will never understand and believe Him. It simply is not possible.

Matt 13:34-35 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Matt 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Matt 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

All the so called "end time" prophecies must likewise be understood with spiritual eyes and ears. Otherwise, the true meaning remains hidden.

In the parable of the fig tree, the "called" Christians who only see Christ in the flesh are the fig tree that has not produce any fruit. But Christ demands that his fig trees produce fruit. As a "called" Christian, we remain barren and not worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is at this point in our spiritual journey that Christ will soon come again, it is right at the doors. When He comes again to us, the brightness of His appearing will destroy the man of sin that we have become as an unfruitful tree. At His appearing, our blindness is healed and we can see the wretched creature that we became as a carnal Christian. True repentance then begins, followed by spiritual understanding and spiritual maturity (producing fruit). Unless Christ comes again to us, no flesh would survive and no one would enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Also, so that you don't misunderstand me, the Kingdom of Heaven is Jesus Christ living within us by the Spirit of the Father. He is the Kingdom of Heaven (Mat 3:2). We are in the Kingdom of Heaven when we are walking by the Spirit. It is not a location or place, it is Christ in us. When we become "one" with Christ and with the Father, bound together by His Spirit, we are in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Spiritual things that Christ is revealing to those whom He has chosen are not visible to the carnal eye. Things of the Spirit occur within us and do not come with observation. The carnal man understands with physical eyes and ears. A son of God understands with spiritual eyes and ears. Remember, scripture says that the natural (carnal) comes first, followed by the spiritual. When we first come to Christ, we are carnal and remain so until He comes to us a second time. When He comes to us the second time, He comes to us as Spirit and not in the flesh as when He came to us the first time. As I said before, this concept is taught to us in Mark 8:22-26.

Know that when the fig tree's branches are tender and puts forth leaves, know that the second coming of Christ is near. He comes to us without observation by the flesh. Unless He comes to us a second time (second coming), no flesh will be saved and no one would ever produce the spiritual fruit that God requires.

Also, I do not create stereotypes of Christians. I merely use the terms scripture uses. Scripture breaks Christians into two groups: called/chosen, walking by the flesh/walking by the Spirit, Old man/New Man, man of sin/son of God and there may be others. Our conversion does not happen when Christ comes to us the first time, at the time we enter the harlot church. Our conversion happens when Christ comes to us a second time (without observation). After our conversion and healing, He then calls us out of the Harlot church (Rev 18:4).

May the Lord bless you,
Joe

The whole of Matthew 24 is centered on the end times, but Jesus warns the apostles (and us) to not get caught up in fretting about such things (see Mt 24:4-8).

Hey Joe of Arkansas.

This sounds like a song "Hey Joe".

You said,

Yes, I believe all scriptures (including those penned by Paul) and there are 12 apostles and no more.

Is that statement correct or what?
