When that day comes," says the LORD, "you will call me 'my husband' instead of 'my master.' O Israel, I will wipe the many names of Baal from your lips, and you will never mention them again. Hosea 2:16-17 NLT

The main theme of the book of Hosea is God’s faithfulness to an unfaithful people of Israel, who had chosen the idol Baal over the God who had loved them and fulfilled His every promise to them. Though God would judge these people, He would also bring them back to Himself.

Indeed, God lovingly worked to bring reconciliation, to steer the people back to fellowship with Himself.

And He does the very same thing with us today.

You may have gone through a time in your walk with the Lord when you strayed from Him. Or maybe you lived a life of high sin before you knew Him. The good news is that He worked to bring about restoration and forgiveness. But here’s some more good news: He will never bring up your past to shame you or cause you to feel insecure in His love.

You really can put your past life of rebellion and idolatry behind you for good. After all, that is exactly what God has done for you.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for loving me and for saving me from my past sinful thoughts and actions. Help me to remember that You’ve cleansed me and that You’ve chosen to forget that part of my life.
