For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13

Be harsh with other people and you can expect a substantial return on your investment. Mercy gives birth to mercy, and justice to justice. God offers you mercy and forgiveness, and His desire is for mercy to be your go-to response with others. Colossians 3:12-13 says, “As the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”

Identify sin and keep your distance. Don’t ever start to invite sin to spend time with your thinking. Make no mistake, you will sometimes entertain sin, but that’s when the God of mercy invites you to come home. You don’t have the right or even the ability to excuse sin, but…you can meet people in Mercy Place just beyond Justice Junction.

Why? Justice is always closer, but mercy takes the extra steps when the offender can’t. Personal justice always accuses and demands payment while mercy understands that restoring relationship is the greater priority. God says mercy triumphs over judgment.
