Generous or Greedy.

An ancient piece of wisdom: Sometimes you can become rich by being generous or poor by being greedy.

Proverbs 11:24

Like many of King Solomon's proverbs they are wise saying that are still relevant to todays society.

This is how I interpret this proverb:
A person can become rich in many ways by being kind and generous towards others. Rich, meaning that there will be many blessings from God, and peace and happiness within oneself, when one is generous towards others. This attitude is from God.

The opposite is to become poor by being greedy. This means that when oneself is greedy, one will be poor indeed. The attention is on oneself, and so life and relationships will not be blessed. God can not and will not bless a greedy heart. This attitude is not from God.

Do you interpret this proverb in the same way, or could there be a different meaning to it?

Do you think that many of King Solomon's proverbs are still relevant in today's society?

I love the book of Proverbs and in no way is it outdated or irrelevant. Keep in mind the entire Bible is the Living Word (Jesus) of GOD. So, its alive. Its today, it was yesterday and will be for tomorrow.

Its no wonder that GOD claimed King Solomon to be the wisest man to ever live (under Jesus' humanity of course). Its no coincidence that GOD chose Solomon to right the book of 'wisdom' as its called.

1 Kings 4:29-30

29And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
30And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.
