Preterist view of Revelation

I am finding this view is probably more common than I would have thought.

All preterist means, is that these events have already happened in the past.
I would have thought that most Christians are futurists. They believe the events of Revelation and Matthew 24
haven't happened yet, but will happen in the future.

It seems most preterists believe that all (or most) of the events happened before 70AD.
In order for this to have occurred, much terminology used in Revelation and Matthew 24, has to be metaphysical.

For example,
If the New Jerusalem has already come down from heaven, it's invisible and we can't see it.
Also if Jesus reigned in peace on the earth for 1,000 years, it was in a metaphysical way, because
there has never been 1,000 years of peace on the physical earth.

Also, if Jesus and his angels have already come back (2nd coming or rapture) then everyone who
is going to be raptured, has already been raptured.
I'm not sure how the imprisonment of satan for 1,000 years fits into this view.

But I do know there are "partial" preterists... who don't believe all of it has happened, but only parts of it have happened.
Another common viewpoint is the "parallelist" view. Some of these things have already happened, but will happen again, in an even worse way.

Matt 24:21; says this time of tribulation will be the worst time that ever occurred since the beginning of the world, and there will never be another time as bad as this specific time. Some people believe this was the persecution of Christians in the first century, and that most likely Nero was the beast.

However many Christians believe the tribulation is in the future (some believe we are going through it now).
So for the preterists out there... I have some questions.

Is Jesus reigning over the earth now? In peace?
Is Satan imprisoned? Has he been released? Has he been thrown into the lake of fire yet?
Has the great white throne judgment already happened?
Is the New Jerusalem come down from heaven yet?
Are Christian ruling and reigning with Him?

There are more... but that's a start.

I have been reading and studying Revelations a lot lately. One thing is clear its not very clear LOL. However my thought is

1. Rapture first

2. Tribulation

3. Jesus Comes and rules for 1,000 years and puts satan in chains

4. Then Satan is realeased and gathers up armies from the fools that still do not beleive

5. Then final battle takes place and satan and his followers are cast into the lake of fire and will burn forever

6. Then the new Heavens and the new earth and our new bodies will be created or resurrected, and the New Jerusalem will come down.

This is just my theory I am still wondering when Jesus comes back does he clear out all of heaven and bring everyone with him??? or just a certain number, I want to say 10,000

It is a fascinating topic, and to here so man different view points and options on the subject, makes me think it might be best to always keep a open mind on it.

BAC do you think the 200,000 army mentioned is real men or some type of spiritual army?? I have herd one of my favorite preachers suggest it was a man made army possibly china. BUt at the time the book was written there not even 200,000 million on the planet.

I hope I am not off topic here

I'm not sure... but you do bring up an interesting point.
Actually Rev 9:16; doesn't say 200,000. It says 200,000,000 !!
Not two hundred thousand. Two hundred million. As it stands today, only China or India could field an army that size.
(if it is not a spiritual army). Which brings up another problem for the preterist.
There was no country (not even Rome) that had an army near 200 million in AD70. Rome's army is estimated to be less than 500,000 (500 thousand) or about half a million.

Are the four beasts mentioned in the book of the Revelation angels or is this man that has reached seraphim status getting throne room revelation in the last days?

Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

I know Angels were not ever redeemed and cannot sing the new song. According to the scriptures, those are of the 144,000 that were redeemed.

Here is another question. Is 144,000 a literal number or does it mean something else?

Rev 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Rev 7:5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
Rev 7:6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
Rev 7:7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
Rev 7:8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Rev 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Rev 7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
Rev 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Notice that the 144,000 could not be numbered.
a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

So 144,000 has to be a spiritual number. These which no man could number came out of the great tribulation.

Just something to think about.
