Prayers for new mother please

Discussion in 'Prayer Request' started by Liv23, Oct 19, 2017.

  1. Hey everyone my name's Elizabeth and I have a 5 month old son. I am married but since the birth of my son my husband has been very distant from us. I do not know what is going on and it has caused a problem in our relationship with each other. He won't talk to me about anything, I can't get him to help me with doing anything around the house or with our son. I'm not sure how to handle this and be a working mom at the same time. I am terrified and do not know what to do or even start to do to see if things can be fixed. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Stay close to God and ask Him to open a way for you to accomplish His will in all things, especially with regard to your husband. I will be praying for you and your situation.

  3. Lord please show Elizabeth what's going on. Do you have support of other mothers you can talk to as well that helps. I am just reminded of Elizabeth in the Bible how when John the baptist was born Zachariah her husband was mute until he could officially name his son. Everyone had called her son after the dad up to that point! Elizabeth also invited cousin Mary who was also with child (Jesus) to stay with her.

  4. Maybe he wasnt ready to be a father, and has either regrets or fear of being a bad father. Ask him if he wants to be a father. If he says he does (with his face agreeing the statement), then ask how you can help. If he doesnt, well then you have some problems.

    Greetings @Liv23 ,

    may I suggest praise?

While often it doesn't fit with our ideas about solutions, praise works! Often we also want immediate change in others and/or circumstances but sometimes the changes unfold a bit slower and often in unexpected ways, for instance we begin to change and then notice positive change in our circumstances.
I am not writing rules here, merely offering a little advice and trying to explain it a bit, but I do know that whatever we face, to praise the Lord is the best we can do and the smartest thing that ever a person can do.

Why do we praise the LORD? Is it because of what we expect of Him? Perhaps to try and get Him to be impressed? Or to do so hoping we might win (whatever it is we battle with)? Or can we praise Him, for Who He is?
My answer there would be the last one, for Who He is.

As we begin to praise the LORD regularly, and do so sincerely, we can only begin to see more and more His majesty and more and more of our need for humility and meekness. We also begin to put the enemy, the adversary to shame and give no ground for the enemy to take from us any longer.

I once heard it put this way,
"when we praise the LORD it is like squirting fly spray up the devils nose!!"
I sort of agree with this concept.
Remember that it is the devil who is out to destroy and steal and lie. Too often we can forget this and focus on the problems as being things goings against us or people being against us but it is so important that we remember that the real problem is the enemy of God, not people and families suffer greatly as couple get thinking it is all the other persons fault and/or problem.

Scripture tells us that we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

Jesus came that we might have life and hope and truth...

Let us rather praise the LORD!

    Bless you and yours ....><>

  6. I think this is two fold.
But before i state anything, it is my prayer you ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, courage, strength, boldness, and sensitivity to react exactly at the right time.
Firstly, i think there's something your husband is hiding, and before we run away with our imaginations assuming the worst, there's definitely something there, and you may have to talk to him about it in due time. Whether he wanted to be a father or not, or there's something else nefarious going on, you really wanna be careful how you talk to him, seeing he's distant and may use whatever situation to reverse it on you, or use it as ammo.
Secondly, you have to pray for your husband for his clarity, his peace, his right decisions, his love. I know there are some very beautiful husband devotionals you can read online so slowly creep into doing that. Pray that whatever is on his heart and pulling him away from you, will be removed, pray that the Holy Spirit changes him accordingly. Your husband is a shepherd, so pray that the Lord really calls him out to man his position as husband, father and shepherd of the flock.

I know it can be easy to hear anybody say this my sister, but you are not forgotten, punished or unloved. This season in your life seems a lil tough and i'm praying that you'll make it out stronger, happier and drawing closer to the Lord. Trust in the Holy Spirit, he's your sent companion and he'll never forsake or abandon you!
