I know I'm new here and not wasting any time in this, but I have a prayer request that I haven't had a chance to ask until now.
With so many things that need to be prayed for that would obviously take priority over any of this request, I hope that I do not seem selfish.
My relationship with my girlfriend of six months has hit a huge obstacle. Her parents, more specifically meaning her mother and her step-father of only a year and a month, have decided to completely forbid her from seeing or talking to me.
Over the past six months of dating her, her mother was always somewhat nice to me, and allowed us to date (my girlfriend is sixteen years old) without giving us too much greif, but the biggest thing was her step-dad. To put it nicely, he's a short-tempered, middle-aged man who firmly believes he is Kayleigh's new father and has forbade her to date until she is eighteen.
Now you should know that I have still never met the man. Never seen his face and couldn't tell you what he looks like. The only time I had ever been in the same proximity as him, was after a high school choir production, which Kayleigh was performing. To make a long story short, Kayleigh did the foolish thing of kissing me in front of her step-dad, and for the following week he proceeded to call me an assortment of "four letter words".
He is verbally and emotionally abusive to both my girlfriend and her mother, and I wouldn't be surprised to know that he is physically abusive towards Kayleigh's mother as well.
To give you all an idea of how ridiculous her parents can be... They ground Kayleigh from going to CHURCH of all places, if she does so much as ask a question that might anger her mother or step-father. So that we're both on the same page, her mother has a knack for lying, and is completely subserviant to whatever Jon (the step-father) commands.
Her mother may have mental problems, as can be seen by the way her mood changes as if she is manic depressive. I am not trying to judge, I am only trying to give everyone a picture of how these parents are. Anyways, this past Thursday, her mother called my cell phone and left a quick message basically stating that I must "stay away from her daughter."
Just two days before that, she invited me to lunch with Kayleigh and her little sister. Kind of ridiculous, eh? Well, I'll tell you what, I'm not perfect by any means, but when I came into Kayleigh's life it was definitely something positive for her. I got her to go to church with me, talked her into improving her relationship with her real father whom she disliked all her life (a product of her mom's doing), and just overall made her happy. And in turn, she made me just as happy.
It may just be a "teenage lovey dovey" thing that really doesn't matter to most people, but as far as I'm concerned, God had a plan in having us cross paths which is evident in the positive changes in both of our lives.
I apologize for making this post SO long, but I figured that I would give you all a background to our story. As of the past two days, her parents have taken away her cell phone, Internet, computer, and have forbidden her to call me on the house phone, not to mention grounding her from friends for an indefinite amount of time. All this not because she did something that she needed to be punished for, but because she was dating me! Something her mother allowed for five whole months!
So please pray for Kayleigh and her parents. Pray that Kayleigh gets through this, however long it might take (I'm willing to wait for her), and that God will dry her tears, and help her parents to realize how foolish they are acting.
AND! Please pray that God will protect Kayleigh. Her step-dad has a short fuse, and knows how to cuss like a sailor and raise his voice that is directed at Kayleigh 90% of the time. Her mother has been physically abusive to Kayleigh in the past (last year), and has no problem getting physical again. It should also be noted that her eight year old sister is living in that kind of household, so pray that Jesus will protect her as well.
Thank you all so much who took the time to read this and pray for her!
God bless.
