We have a great prison ministry at a women's prison just outside of town. Some things have come up that I would like every one possible to be praying for:
Our prison leader, Svann, is having back surgery next week, so she will not be able to be there. All of the women know who she is, and sometimes if they see that she's not there, they don't come to the Bible studies.
One woman last week finally opened up and asked for prayer, for healing of Aids. She is the minimum security unit, and now other inmates are requesting that she be put in maximum-saying there is danger of physical contact with her. Maximum is for murders, etc, and people who get in trouble, who go to the 'hole'. She hasn't done anything wrong. And she's probably not the only person in minimum security with a disease either.
We don't have access to Maximum security either. There is one woman on death row, and we can't tell her about Jesus. Only one faith is allowed in there, Mormons, so pray that Christian Churches can get in there too.
There has been a huge explosion of faith in there since we began about 1 1/2 years ago. Hundreds have come to Christ in our Bible studies and concerts. We baptize them, we teach them guitar so they can worship on their own, we get them Bible study material so they can have their own studies. We help them with different resources after they are released. These women are a captive audience, waiting for Jesus.
They need our prayers. They are in Idaho. The women affectionately refer to our volunteers as the 'Rocky Mountain Mamas'.
