Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down The LORD's name [is] to be praised. Psalm 113:2-3 NKJV

Some faith traditions seem to place a high value on church attendance, as if living for God one hour each week is enough. In reality, the Christian life is one that lives coram Deo, a Latin phrase that means before the face of God. As such, the Christian lives to honor and praise God from the moment he rises to the moment he lies back down in the evening.

In today’s verses, the psalmist hits on this truth. The name of the Lord is to be praised always. The Christian doesn’t live in a compartmentalized fashion. He doesn’t worship the Lord on Sundays, then live like the world for the rest of the week.

What are you currently doing to praise the Lord throughout your day? Maybe it’s singing hymns or paise songs silently while you work, or maybe it’s offering prayers of praise often.

If you find that you’ve fallen short, begin to shift your mindset from being someone who goes to church to being someone who is the church. That’s not to say you won’t also attend corporate worship, but that’s just the start of your worship. Make praise as natural as breathing.

Prayer: Father, I praise Your name this morning, and I’ll praise it throughout the day.
