A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. ...Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:10, 28-29
In Proverbs 31:10-30, King Lemuel relays to his son the wise words his own mother had given him concerning what an incredible blessing a wife of noble character is. He lists her many character qualities and the many things she does for her household and other people, and as he concludes, he tells his son how a blessed husband speaks words of praise directly to his wife.
Family life is busy, and sometimes it can be easy to neglect the basics of marriage such as speaking uplifting, encouraging words to your spouse. But making it a point to compliment your wife for who she is and what she does—especially today, on Mothers’ Day—can move your marriage from good to great, or from great to amazing.
If you’re married, thank God for this special day to remind you to be thankful for your wife. But you should tell her every day how much you love her, value her, and appreciate everything she does for you, for your children, and for others. And just to make those words even more special now and then, make sure to say them within earshot of your children.
