The Bible talks about those who have overcome. Those who will overcome. Also those who can be overcome.
First there is Jesus, who obviously has overcome.
John 16:33; "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."
Rev 5:5; and one of the elders *said to me, "Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals."
Then there are Christians who have overcome. 1st John talks about different levels of Christians maturity. It mentions little children, young men, and fathers. It isn't speaking of physical
age here, it is speaking of your level of Christian maturity. But no matter what you level is, you can overcome Satan. Read 1st John chapter 2. Notice how many times it mentions
children, young men and fathers. This is a good way to find out which level you are at.
1Jn 2:13; I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
1Jn 2:14; I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
1Jn 4:4; You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; (evil deceving spirits) because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
I especially like the last verse. Even little children can overcome, but only if Christ is in us. (greater is He who is in you... )
1Jn 5:4; For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
It is by faith that we overcome. However some fall away from the faith, that is another subject.
We are warned not be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good.
Rom 12:21; Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
2Peter chapter 2 talks about false prophets and deceptive teachers, who are trying to teach us about the grace of God, yet they themselves are overcome by evil.
2Pet 2:19; promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.
2Pet 2:20; For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
Even Christians who have escaped the world through the knowledge of Jesus can still be overcome if they aren't careful.
It seems that sometimes God lets His people be overcome, example in Revelation we have the two witnesses, that will eventually be overcome by the beast.
Rev 11:7; When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.
We also have the saints that are still on the Earth during the tribulation and reign of the beast, they will also be overcome.
Rev 13:7; It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him.
Now of course eventually Satan and the beast will be overcome by Jesus.
Rev 17:14; "These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful."
In the meantime, we can overcome Satan by our testimony.
Rev 12:11; "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.
Notice in the verse above, we may have to lose our lives in order to overcome Satan.
