Our destinies

I believe our destinies are tied to our names, and I believe God chose our names for a reason. I'll use my name as an example; my name is Taylor Keith Hovland. Wyatt is another of my names which is my least favorite name: there's a reason, I'll get back to that. I have done research and looked up what the meanings of my names mean, like Taylor.
What is Taylor? What does it mean?
In English, it means someone who sows
clothing. I didn't stop there.
Eventually, I wanted to find the Hebrew meaning of the name: Taylor is translated from Talor, and in Hebrew, it means; "eternal beauty" "clothed with salvation"
Wyatt means; "Brave" "Warrior-like"
Keith; I have gotten many meanings, one is "Oak" "built like an oak'
And Hovland is a pagan name, means; "Worship" or "temple"

I don't know much else to say about this, but I believe that God chose this name for me.

Hello Wyatt

For most of us, our names were chosen by our parents or grandparents and not by God. In the bible, I only recall of three people whose names were specifically given by God. That was Adam, John the Baptist, and Jesus. I am not sure if other names in the bible were inspired by God or not. It is possible that some were although the bible does not specify.

Jesus also gave Simon, the surname Peter and called James and John Boanerges (the sons of thunder).

There have been cases where God changed someone’s name. For example Abram he changed to Abraham, and Jacob to Israel.

However, I have met people who have been given biblical names and did not live up to their names and lived the opposite of what their names meant. Some atheists give their children biblical names and their children did not become Christian.

There is also the story of Jabez, whose name means sorrowful and he asked God to bless him and did not live a sorrowful life (1 Chronicles 4:10)

It is great that you are living up to your name, but a lot of people do not.

Therefore a person’s name does not determine their destiny.
