"There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can't bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. John 16:12-13 NLT

Jesus would soon be betrayed and face false charges. He would be killed. There would be a resurrection too, but the things His disciples didn’t know captured Jesus’ focus and attention.

If the disciples’ minds were sponge like, then they were oversaturated. They had learned much, but there was still more to learn. The time had come for Jesus to initiate God’s great rescue plan. The disciples wouldn’t understand, though they had been told. As Jesus prepared for His death, the disciples entertained confusion.

Are you puzzled when you read the Bible? It may seem that the connections you hoped to find by reading the Bible are hard to decode. Jesus could have been talking to you when He said that you might not be able to understand everything in one reading of His Word. God’s Spirit closes the knowledge gap by teaching, leading, and guiding. The Holy Spirit helps you understand more of the nature of God so you can become more like His Son.

Prayer: Dear God, since Your Spirit lives with me, help me attend master classes in Your wisdom. Help me pay attention. Help me understand what You want me to know most.
