One Flock, One Shepherd

by Chip Brogden

"And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as We are one" (John 17:22).

How do we achieve unity? We do not. Rather, God reveals His Son to us as the Head of the Church. If we see the Head, if we know the Good Shepherd, we will come to know the Body and the Flock. We cannot say we love God if we do not love our brothers and sisters. We cannot maintain communion with the Head if we are separated from the Body. When we follow One Shepherd as One Flock then we will be in one accord. If we are one with the Head, we are one with the Body, even if we are not gathered together. But, if we are not one with the Head, we are not one with the Body, even if we are gathered together in the guise of unity.

Remember Abigya, that God specifically knew that one day Christians will be dis-united.
God's greatest fear for the Church has been that wolves would come who would enter the flock and destroy and scatter the True Sheep.

One remedy for this has been "separation" of the Brethren.Remember the parable:-

" Did you not plant good seed? Who planted these?"
"And He replied..' an enemy did this.."
"Shall we go in,master, and uproot the weeds?"
" No,...Let them grow together until the time of the harvest..."

God in his Wisdom, allowed schism to exist to keep the weeds and wheat unique to themselves until the time of the Harvest. Then all evil will be weeded out and the righteous shall rejoice in the Kingdom of their Father.

So ,in God's view,everything has a purpose..even disunity.

Correct me if i misunderstood you Brother but i don't see in any of the scripture say disunity is God's purpose.

Lets begin with this one

Eph 1
9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth––in Him.
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

Wonderful Abigya!

You are quite right! However, it seems to me that God does want Christians to unite, but on HIS terms and for the sake of righteousness, not so that they can start monoliths built in man's name, but movements founded on the Head Himself,Jesus Christ.

Many movements have arisen that seem to foster Christian Unity, but only to turn out to be playgrounds for the introduction of Demonic doctrines.

so God is usually wary about this unity thing.Remember, the world at the time of the Antichrist will be united under one Quasi-Christian faith led by the False Prophet.

Unity here is not the issue.the issue is motive. Are we uniting under God or under some manly goals that satan can hijack.

John 15:1
[ The Vine and the Branches ] "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

John 15:4
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

John 15:5
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

God bless
