omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent

Member
I am 70 years old and have been a Christian for a long time.
We are taught that God is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.
I have never doubted this.
After all, since God can just speak things into existence, why should we doubt it.
Now, here is my question.
Where can I find the biblical backing for that claim.
I can find the definition of those three words in a bible dictionary, but can't find those three words in the bible.
I also can't find the definition of those three words in the bible.
If I can't find it in the bible, where should I be looking?
Any clarification or help on this subject would be appreciated.

How long have you been a Christian? And how long did you wait to read the bible? Then Again have you read the bible?

You know the word trinity is not in the bible either. It is a word someone thought up to act as a tag on a concept of the nature of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

It might help if someone posts the 3 words you mention with their official definitions added. Then we will all know what we are discussing.

OMNIPOTENT --- All powerfull. limitless power

For there is nothing which God in not able to do LUke 1:37

It is he(God) who made the earth by his power, who established the world
by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched the heavens Jeremish 10:12

No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel. can avail against the Lord Prv 21:30

(GOd delclares) When I act, who can reverse it? Isiah 43:13

OMNIPRESENT -- Is everywhere, including here

One God. and Father of all, who is over all, and through all. and in all
Ephesians 4:6

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the
good Proverbs 15:3

Am I a GOd who is only in one place and cannot see what they are doing?
Can anyone hide from me ? Am I not everywhere in heaven and
earth Jeremiah 23:23-34

OMNISCIENT -- Knows all things

By wisdom the Lord founded the earth, by understanding he established
the heavens. By his knowledge the deep fountains of the burst forth,
and the clouds poured down rain Proverbs 3:19-20

He know about everyone, everywhre. Everything about us is bare and
wide open to the all-seeing eyes of our living God: nothing can be hidden
from him to whom we must explain all that we have done
Hebrews 4:13

Like Adstar stated the word Trinity is not in the bible... but the concept is.
The same with the 3 omni's ,, They are just words to describe what is allready taught in the bible. nothing more..

There are so many more verses in the bible that teach God is all powerfull all knowing and all present.. these are just a sampling...

While I do have to agree with Adstar admonishment.., I hope you are getting yourself involved in a good bible study, it is never ever too late..

but please dont stop asking questions.. I am sure somebody here will allways try to put a answer to them

In love

Kevin

I really did not post my reply in the spirit of admonishment. But having read it again i apologize for it. it does not sound nice.

I was just amazed and am still amazed that so many Christians do not read the Bible. It is the most important Book one could ever read.

Thanks for posting the definitions Hebrews11. They seem all good to me. :thumbs_up

Blessings to you oneputt

The Dictionary-has these words, However the scripture through the Holy Spirit revealed this below;

If I said that there was air in a sealed bottle would that mean that there is no air outside of the bottle?

God is omnipresent, everywhere, in heaven and with us.
Psalm 139:7-10
Where can I hide from your spirit?
From your presence, where can I flee?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I lie down in Sheol, you are there too.
If I fly with the wings of dawn
and alight beyond the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand hold me fast.

God Is Omnicient Knows everything about us.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Omnipotent; Mighty in power.
Ish 40:25-26
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
In Conclusion
B]God can be found:[/B]
+ In every human being who was made in His image
+ In every believer as part of the Body of Christ
+ In my heart, mind, and soul
+ In His creation, the universe, nature, animals, plants, and the back yard
+ In His revealed Word, the Holy Scriptures
+ In the Sacraments of the Church
+ In heaven
+ Anywhere and everywhere

Last scripture; Hebrews 1-3
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

Stay grounded in faith.
