Old vs New Covenant

There are many covenants between God and man and there are the two main covenants that we as Christians talk about. They are the old and the new.

Now we know the old covenant was made between God and Man.

My Question is.....
Who is the New Covenant made between?

I will let this go for a few days then I will respond .

Thank You for all of your thoughtful replies.

Hmmm... how far do you want to go with this? :) Some say...

Jer 31:31; "Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,

Heb 8:8; For finding fault with them, He says, "BEHOLD, DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL EFFECT A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH;

Rom 11:26; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB."
Rom 11:27; "THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."

Matt 15:24; But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

But I wonder if it not called the "old covenant" simply because Gentiles weren't really aware of it?
Even Gentiles get saved the same way Jews do now.

John 10:16; "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

Matt 12:18; "BEHOLD, MY SERVANT WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN; MY BELOVED IN WHOM MY SOUL is WELL-PLEASED; I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM, AND HE SHALL PROCLAIM JUSTICE TO THE GENTILES. (see Isa 41:8; Isa 42:1; )

Matt 12:21; "AND IN HIS NAME THE GENTILES WILL HOPE."

Luke 2:32; A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel." ( Isa 42:6; )

Acts 11:18; When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."

Acts 14:27; When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles

Acts 15:17; SO THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD, AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME,'

Acts 22:21; "And He said to me, 'Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'" --- when did Jesus tell Paul this :)

Rom 3:29; Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, (also see Zech 8:23; )

... there is a lot more...

Oh! This is a very good question!!!! The New Covenant is between Jesus and the Father...And we are its beneficiaries. Sorry to cut this one short. LOL

Do you have scripture that says this?

Gal 3:19; Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
Gal 3:20; Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one.

The promise wasn't made to Jesus, it was made to Israel. Also if Jesus is God, Jesus can't mediate between God and God. Jesus mediates between God and man.

1 Tim 2:5; For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

What does Jesus mediate?

Heb 8:6; But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.

Heb 8:7; For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, He says,
“Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
When I will effect a new covenant
With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

It doesn't say He is effecting a new covenant between Jesus and the Father.

Heb 9:15; For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Heb 9:16; For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.
Heb 9:17; For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives.
Heb 9:18; Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.

The covenant is between God and "those who have been called" to receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Not between Jesus and the Father.

This is a dangerous Calvinist teaching. That it is between the Father and the Son only.

Heb 12:23; to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
Heb 12:24; and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

The covenant is between the church, and God.

If we go with the monergistic perspective, that the covenant is only between the Son and the Father, then man has no part in the covenant.
If man has absolutely nothing to do with it, then all men are saved and the Universalists are right. Even the satanists, Muslims, and Hindu's are saved.

Yes sir I have many.
I had hoped more would reply first.
I will see if I can post everything tonight.

Greetings @B-A-C ,
As I first said I had hoped more people would have replied giving me a little time. I don't want to just throw a bunch of junk up here so please allow me a little time.

I don't have much time at any one time right now. I still might get it posted late tonight.

No sweat brother. Take your time!
Just think if we were mailing letters to each other here instead of rapid communication.
We'd be enjoying and savoring this communication for many, many days!

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Thank you Brother Nick,
I want to take a moment and mention this so others won't make the same mistake.

There is Always Consequences for Disobedience and God the Father is not always Responsible for the outcome as in my case.

I have not been sick for many years other then a time with a bad tooth.

For months I have felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to Slow Down And Get More Rest And Make Some Changes in my diet.

I admit I only gave half attention to it. Then the rug got pulled out from under me.
I wore myself out and got pretty sick.

Now God the Father had nothing to do with me getting sick....in Fact through the Holy Spirit He had been warning me to take action and make these corrections.

My Disobedience took me right to the place God in His Love was steering me from.

Bottom line......when you feel a prompting from the Holy Spirit EVEN IF it does not make sense.
LISTEN.....

So for now my time is short online but I am healed and amazingly this afternoon I was flooded with Peace and have seen a huge change for the good.

Enjoy Your Salvation

Amen Brother.
Listen & Obey!
Amen!
The Lord showed me that we (me) and I know I am not alone in this, are quicker to address the bigger issues and tend to not give much attention to the little things,
It's these little things that when go unattended, produce big unneeded results.

Enjoy Your Salvation

Luke 22:20 E
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

Hebrews 9:15
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Hebrews 8:6
But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.

Jeremiah 31:31-34
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

seems NC is for anyone who believes and they become part of the church, so is the Church part of Israel I think so in a spiritual sense,
