You sought for David in times past to be king over you. Now then, do it - 2 Samuel 3:17-18.
God has his best things for those who dare to stand the test. God has His second choice for those who will not have His best. It is the good things that keep us too often from the better, and it is the better that often robs us from reaching God's best. Jesus calls us to go right over the Jordan. You have been through the Red Sea. Have you been through Jordan? You came out of Egypt. Have you gone into the land? He brought us out from thence that He might bring us in. Have you gone in?
Abram and Terah started out from Ur to go into the land of Canaan, and Terah (the old man) died on the way; but Abram pressed on and came into the land of Canaan. His purpose was accomplished. Is yours - and God's purpose for you?
"You sought in times past for David to be king over you; do it!" Crown Him king in your life; do it intelligently, deliberately, definitely, thoroughly, joyfully, immediately. Do not wait. This is your hour of opportunity. You know Jesus as your Saviour; He comes and claims to be your Lord. He is your eternal security; He wants to be your complete satisfaction; He is your righteousness; He wants to be your holiness. He wants to lead you on, and lead you out, and lead you up. Can you trust Him? Won't you go with Him?
As a blood bought and blood washed soul, I have no further right to myself; I have no right to do what I like, - to go where I like, - to be what I like, - to say what I like, - to read what I like, - to form the companionships I like, - to choose the career I like.
I handed myself over to Jesus in that great, wonderful hour of my regeneration, and I belong to Him by every right - creation, preservation, and redemption; and unless you can give a reason to the Risen Lord for not surrendering yourself absolutely to Him, you have got to do it. " You sought in times past for David to be king over you; now then Do it."
