"Being born again, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. All flesh is as grass and the glory of man as the flower of grass. "Being born again, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible"
1. The Experience of being Born Again
a. It is not a fuller development of the life which we have.
It is called the 2nd birth. But you canot attain to it. You canot arrive at it by education. You cannot achieve it by acedemic persuasion or conclusion.
It can only be by the operation of the Spirit of God....that is why when preaching the gospel we pray for the unction of the Holy Spirit to rest upon the word which is preached because only He can produce this New Birth in the heart of a person.....But what a wonderful experience, what a marvelous transformation to be Born Again.
2 The Influence of being Born Again.
What does it do?....What effect does it have?
a. It produces holiness. It is the only thing that can produce a holy life and character etc......
b. It produces happiness.
Heaven is happy when a person is born again. "There is joy in the presence of the angels in heaven when one sinner repenteth"
Luke 15:7
Heaven gets excited when people are born again. It was for this reason Jesus went to calvary. "Who for the joy which was set before Him....endured the cross, despising the shame.
Heb 12:2 etc.
3 THe Permanance of being Born Again
This is where the New Birth is so much higher than natural birth. We have something which belongs to eternity....Being born again, not of corruptible seed. Humanity is destined for death. There is the corruptible seed. All flesh withereth....etc. Isaiah 40:6 It all fadeth away. But the word of the LOrd endureth forever. Isaiah 40:8
We have been born again by the incorruptible seed of the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. That is why the New Birth is so important...it will continue throughout eternity
This is the hope of the gospel. Not Born Again of corruptible seed..... but of incorruptible seed, the Word of God........ When all the glories....not just the decades, but when centuries, dispensations, milleniums have passed away....when everything is caught up in that final judgement of Almighty God, and all culture of civilisation built by man shall be burned away, when everything of human nature has arrived at the final moment and can go no further.......there will be a New Creation which will stand for all eternity.
Thank God for this one thing that above all else, above everything...position, honour, wealth,....to be born again of the incorruptible seed the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever
