I am a writer, currently planning a book on the significant yet unfamous people of the Bible, such as Adam and Eve's third son, Seth, or Jesus' brothers, or the theives that hung on either side of Jesus on Calvary Hill. Anyone have any theories as to anything really significant about these people, or why they were not mentioned in any Bible stories while their families were extremely famous?

Hi JesusFreakGeek & welcome to TalkJesus.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe Seth is mentioned in one of the NT geneologies to Jesus.

As far as the two men next to Jesus also hung on crosses, the Bible gives a little info. then they both physically die. If you want info. about their lives prior being hung, I'd suggest looking up under what conditions a person in that time could be hung.

Hope this helps some, PM if you need more details on two things I mentioned above.

Aren't James and Jude, who both wrote books of the Bible, believed to be the brothers of Jesus?

Hi JesusFreakGeek

I use an electronic Bible called e-Sword which I believe is a free program. I found for example on Seth the following verses:
Gen 4:25, Gen 4:26, Gen 5:3, Gen 5:4, Gen 5:6, Gen 5:7, Gen 5:8,
1Ch 1:1, Luk 3:38. It also indicates that the name Seth means "appointed".
What is great about this program is the commentary of many well known people, which makes the understanding of the chapters easier. It also allows you to search for certain words, names or phrases and gives you all the verses related to your search.

If you don't have the program I would highly recommend you acquiring it for your research.

Blessings!

gee, thanks guys, i will definitely be checking out that site. do you know of any more people who would fit this book?

i know the two men who hung beside Jesus on the crosses were theives, and one was a believer in Christ, saved just before death, and the other was an atheist, remember, in Passion of the Christ, he laughed at Jesus and mocked him, and God made a bird come down and peck his head. i know that much but i dont know their names or stories, i just think they are significant because Jesus did save that one man from the terrible fate that awaited the other.

people who may fit this subject too

As far as I am aware theories about the bible are nor encouraged on this web-site.

Why not read the koran, book of morman, eddie baker smith, etc. and so on, and write about the theories therein.. I am sure this will prove more fertile ground for your book.

Seth (son of Adam) is named in Luke's geneaology (Lk 3:37). Luke traces Jesus' bloodline from Adam through David to Joseph. Both Joseph and Mary were of the house of David.

Hi there Jesus freak. Good luck in your writing endevours. I think your answer or at least part of it can be found in John 21:25. Can you just imagine if the Bible elabourated on every single person it names in its pages. The book would be 5 feet thick. We couldn't even lift it, much less study it through in a lifetime.
all the best...

thank you all for your help. I think i can write my book now, but i am still looking for people to elaborate on. To the moderators, i am very sorry if i broke any site rules, i just didnt know where else to go to find the answers i was looking for. again, thank you all.

Thanks for your apology dear friend, and I dont think you broke any rules at all.

I am rather defensive when it comes to Jesus, or the bible. These matters are beyond reproach. I still take the old gospel hymn to heart..."Stand up, stand up for Jesus..........."

Would that more stood up for His cause today rather than patronize the dubious and doubtful.

God Bless You

Significant, unfamous Bible people

Mordicai & Rahab are 2 more significant, unfamous Bible people.

Mordicai got queen Esther to go to the King & beseech him to save her people whom Haaman was trying to eliminate.

Rahab protected the Israelite spies who had come to Jericho &
may be in the line of Jesus.
