I have been struggling with the disease of addiction in both my 64 year old brother in law and my 33 year old nephew. My brother in law is in the throes of his addiction to alcohol and I fear his marriage to my sister of 30 years is close to dissolving leaving them both alone. My nephew is addicted to ocycontin and is taking the express elevator right to rock bottom. Please pray for both of them that they will instinctively reach out when that day comes that the hit their respective bottoms and that the same awesom God that was there for me a little over 8 years ago and plucked me from the brinks of hell will do the same for these two souls. They are both good men but they are slaves to their addiction. I believe in the power of prayer and so I ask you for your prayers for my brother in law and my nephew. Thank you in advance. I am praying for all involved.The Lord delivered me from drugs and alcohol some 30 years ago and I never looked back however;
I had several major surgeries last year and they put me on some powerful painkillers. I was getting sick on them as my body simply will not tolerate them. I quit cold turkey. The withdrawal lasted about 10 days. 10 days of wanting to crawl out of my skin and knowing that "relief" was a pill away I choose to cling to Jesus.
No He did not take away the way my body reacted and my flesh was screaming and yet I knew that I knew He was there with me. In the end He was faithful and I was fine.
Do not enable your family but ask them prayerfully to seek counseling and help. Perhaps they will have to hit rock bottom to finally look up but even if that is so Jesus will be there waiting for them.

Praying that God will heal your bil and nephew, and if they aren't saved that they will come to Christ for spiritual healing.
