need some answers

Hi All,

I'm a lil bit confused about how Jesus treated Peter and Judas before He was crucified.

On last supper with His disciples Jesus warned Peter that he would deny Him before men and on Luke 22:31 Jesus said to Peter:

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat, 22:32 but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”

While on John 13: 27 He said to Judas:

Then Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.”

Can you see the difference? Jesus didn't treat them in equal way. Seemed like He was partial to them. He loved Peter more than Judas if I can say.

Jesus prayed for Peter but not for Judas. And I guess that what makes Peter & Judas faced different destiny.

Maybe Jesus felt some hard feelings to Judas for unexplain reasons

Do you have any clue for my confusion ?

Jesus knew what they were going to do and how it would all end LONG before it ever happened. Maybe that is a reason.
Judas' story is the saddest one in the Bible to me.
Both did about the same to their Lord. Peter denied him and Judas betrayed him...but you know, they would have found out who he was and which one he was without Judas' kiss.
I believe both repented and felt terrible about what they did to the one they loved. Peter and Judas both repented.
Only Judas couldn't get over what he did and just didn't understand that Jesus would have forgiven him of his betrayal too without a second thought. But poor Judas missed it. It's really sad...

This is a good question or point to raise for Bible study.

One thing to remember, Jesus had to love Judas otherwise it would not have been betrayal. Also, Remember that Jesus died for the sins of the world because God so loved the world.
Jesus did not have hard feelings for Judas. Judas was fulfilling prophecy, which is why Jesus said to do what had to be done.

Satan would have figured he had won over Judas, but had to try and stop Peter before Peter could begin his ministry as an Apostle.
Simon the reed was to become Peter the rock.

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" Proverbs 27:6

I suspect that while Jesus prayed for Peter not to be sifted, He was praying concerning His entire crucifixion, and the coming events. He was just clear about the Father's will and what would transpire.

A very very good question indeed. I love to have questions raised from the bible like this.

As far as Judas is concerned, satan had already won his heart and the plan to have Jesus killed was already in the mind of Judas (The seed was sown into Judas' mind by satan), that is why Jesus says about Judas in these verses:

John 6:70: Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil.

Luke 22:21-22:

Verse 21: But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me at the table.

Verse 22: And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed.

As far as Peter is concerned, satan still did not win Peter's heart, satan tried to win Peter's heart, but he failed because of Jesus' prayer.

The big difference between Judas and Peter is:

Judas knew very well in his heart that he would betray Jesus, but Peter never knew in his heart that he would deny Jesus.

I agree that the difference between Judas and Peter is that Judas completely understood what he was doing while Peter didn't.

I missed that point.

I see 2 things here:

1> God allowed Satan to sift Peter as wheat to remove the chaff so to speak, but Peter was not thrown in the fire.

2> Peter's faith in God didn't fail him.
Though Peter was prodded until he said he didn't know Jesus, Peter still believed.
