After 20 years I ran away from home. My 3 boys were all trying to take over the house and at the time mom allowed them to. No matter what dad did or said dad was always out voted. My wife once told me that she could have me replaced and that I was only around to drive the kids around. That was the hardest time in my life. I left home to save my life. I ended up at my brother's house for a few months. I sought God daily and attended a church about 5 days a week. Then one morning God told me to go home... I did...

A broken heart was mine and could never be resurrected.
The pieces all were tarnished and cut me with a jerk.
Our love was one that started with a flower unexpected,
Couldn’t wait to see you when I returned home from work.
The years they were good and we were greatly blessed
Like weeds the young ones grew tall and strong.
Before I knew it they were giving me the test
My words fell upon the ground stepped on.
I left for Georgia but my heart stayed there with you
I ran and I traveled to start a new life,
Freedom and peace was something that seemed new
I wanted to forget that you were my wife.
Over twenty years we walked together and held each other’s hands.
From the outside of our home they thought that all was well.
The Christmas lights the egg hunts the little marching bands
But they never saw the sorrow or the burning fights in hell.
When we thought the day was over and the night would come too soon
The children all would fight and break down walls and doors.
I’d slowly walk through that broken door to see the silent moon
They all said that I was weak and couldn’t heal the sores.
