Ok guys i wont beat around the bush here. I am a Muslim and i am working on a project. I am NOT interested in debating or anything of the sort. I am all game for discussion but i am NOT here to challenge your faith. It is your choice and your right. (however, if you want you can ask me whatever you want about islam).
Now with that said i have some questions for you guys that i have concerning a project i am working on. I am coming here because well, if you want to know about geology you ask the geologist, if you want to know about Christianity you ask the Christian. Seem fair?
anyway, i am currently trying to track the lineage of 3 prophets in the OT. There names are, Jonah, Nahum, Obadiah (PBUT). I only need their lineage up to Abraham (PBUH).
This would be a great help guys. I have been looking for this onfo for about 3 weeks now but can not seem to come across it. so ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Peace and blessings be upon you all.

I won't beat around the bush either.

A muslim, can't ask a Christian questions about Christianity or the Christian God's people, if he isn't seeking to know Jesus, period.

What good will your "project" do my God, my Jesus? No good at all, it will help Alah, and he isn't my god.

Brother please i am not here to attack or insult. In all honesty it is for an essay i am doing simple as that. I used to be the kind of person who would run around challenging people on their faiths and beliefs and or whatever other motives they had. But i am not like that anymore. To say that my research will help my god and not your god is to say there is more then one God. I think we will both agree there is only one. I am not here to start fights or issues. Please any help will be great guys.
Thanks you in advance

Mat, you say in your profile you know the Bible very well. I know you don't want a debate and I don't either. I just want to simply give you the gospel of Christ.

Do you realize that you're a sinner? Have you ever told a lie? Stolen anything little in your life? Be honest before God. Have you ever looked at a woman with lust(sexual thoughts)? If so read what Jesus says about that in Matthew 5:28.

As you can see you're a sinner like me and the rest of the people here on TJ. There will come a day when you will stand before God. Will you be innocent or guilty?

Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" KJV

There is only one way you'll be forgiven of your sins. There is no other way, only one way. That way is Jesus Christ. God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

1 John 5:7
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." KJV

John 1:1
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." KJV

John 1:14
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." KJV

As you can see from the above verses, Jesus is God. That's a good thing because if he wasn't God. We would all be going to Hell and burning forever. God made the law and He has to punish sin. If you stand before God with your sins, He'll cast you into Hell and you'll burn forever.

The good news is God is a loving God and He made a way for you to Salvation. He came as His son Jesus Christ and died the Cross, was buried and rose again on the third day by the power of God. Jesus' blood will cleanse you from sin. If you believe in what Jesus did and who He was, you will have eternal life with God. If you don't you'll go to Hell and burn for eternity.

Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." KJV

Romans 10:9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." KJV

I pray that you read this and really think about it. Jesus is the way, the truth and the light. There is no other way to God, but through Him. I pray you take His invitation and come to God.

John 14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." KJV

God Bless:love:

well I saw in another thread someone said they used a software called e-sword why don't you try that. I saw that you can download the software on your computer if I'm not mistaken.

Can you go to some Bible Seminary with a library? There you will find books & dictionaries on proper names and Bible Encyclopedias. Use the resources there for gleaning the required information. The program e-Sword also has some resources to search with.
Please do seriously consider the gospel given by Cody - it is a question of eternity with no chance to correct errors once there. This life is the only place and time you have for repentance and salvation.

Thanks a lot guys you have been a great help. I appreciate it it. Go in peace

Jonah,1st

Jonah Shephatiah, son of Amittai, Who was the son of Ben the widow of Sarepta. He was raised from the dead by Elijah in I kings. He went on to become a Scholar, Rabbi, & Poet, From the Tribe of Zebulun, Jonah was raised, in Gath-Hepher in the Galilee territory just 4 miles NE of Nazareth.
Who the husband of the Widow was is one of the mysteries that will stay unsloved until we face God on that last day, when the reason for us not knowing alot of things will be revealed.

Uncle Steve you see that information is perfect but where did you get it exactly. 1 Kings Chapter? verse?

thank you

1 Kings 17 and around verse 21 is probably what you're looking for.

i have found the reference thank you and i have found nNahm's lineage as well.
If anybody can help me find Obadiah's lineage that would be great thank you.

Dear Muslim brother Mat
Please forgive my bigoted Christian friends, and remember those that are trying to convert you think they are doing God a service.
I have the answers for your question, taken from Harper's Bible Commentary. If you are interested in Bible history get a good commentary.
Following is the information you requested.

Obadiah is a prophecy agaist the Edomites written about 100 years after the Babylonian captivity. According to Obadiah's account, Edom participated against Jerusalem in the conquest of Babylon.

Jonah also dates from the fifth century BCE, the book raises the question of Abraham, "Will the God of all the earth do right?

Nahum is a book about God's justice as opposed to human vengeance in the destruction of Nineveh.
God bless you dear Muslim brother, in your search for trut
--Abe Yonder

The original Hebrew rendition of Nahum had musical notes to go with it and was a poem put to music.
The opening hymn shows a display of a wsome power when Yahweh appears as the Divine Warrior.
Nahum took the first half of an ancient poem already in existence and adapted it to a new purpose it is a taunt song in four parts that is directed against the wicked city of Nineveh.

Nineveh was the capital city of Assyria.

Yonder, I am surprised that you are apologetic for something that is a direct command of our savior! Isn't that a responsibility of the saved to take or convey the gospel to the un-saved?
Isn't that what witnessing and being obedient to the Master is all about?
Why should conveying the gospel be considered bigoted?
Nobody is compelling or forcing Mat into something against his wishes and those who can have provided whatever help they could, so why should taking this opportunity to also share the gospel be considered worthy of an apology?

A muslim follows Satan, there is no other God except God Almighty who wrote the Bible Himself.

Jesus said:
Matthew 12:30
He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

Should we help Satan with his gospel? Should we help satan confuse the world more?
1 John 2:18-23
Deceptions of the Last Hour

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Jesus is not a so called "prophet". He is God Supreme.

All muslims are antichrists.
