“Everything, including ourselves, goes to the Great Giver.”
As I came out of my sleep, I heard these words. Awake, I looked at the clock-4:11. Time to call for information?
Who said, “Everything, including ourselves”? It could have come from deep inside me, I guess, but it seemed like I heard it. “Ourselves” is plural; the speakers’ selves and myself- my body and all my possessions, as well as the rest of “everything” goes to the Great Giver?
Goes? Nice alliteration, but don’t you mean belongs? Goes to means moves towards…oh, it’s a lively word, emphasizing the “ourselves” part, not the “everything”.
Who is this “Great Giver”? (It could be “the great giver”, since I heard, not read, the words.) Is that You, Father God? Is this a new name for You? I used to worship You, the Alpha God, the #1 God, the new beginnings God, the God of Springtime and resurrection. Then , in 2006, You started introducing Yourself as the Omega God, the God of endings and death and winter and darkness. I worshipped You then too. This Giver God is part of the Omega God, the God of lasts (and firsts, of course, too), the God of servants.
As both Alpha God and Giver God, You would be a philanthropist; as Omega God and Giver God, You become part of the servers, the ones who have to give because they have no power. And You call us to give ourselves to You.
This is not a new thought; Jesus introduced the world to the idea of a caring, giving God. But it is a new way for me to see God, and to worship Him.
It’s time to give ourselves to Him. It’s all going to Him anyway!
