I will be surprised if this thread doesn't get a high number of hits.
There's just something about money.

Heb 13:5; Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU

2 Tim 3:1; But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 Tim 3:2; For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
2 Tim 3:3; unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
2 Tim 3:4; treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
2 Tim 3:5; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

1 Tim 6:10; For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 Tim 6:11; But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.

1 Tim 3:2; An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
1Tim 3:3; not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money.

Luke 22:35; And He said to them, "When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" They said, "No, nothing."

Luke 16:14; Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him.

Luke 12:33; "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.

Mark 12:41; And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums.
Mark 12:42; A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.
Mark 12:43; Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, "Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;
Mark 12:44; for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on."

Matt 19:21; Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Matt 19:22; But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.
Matt 19:23; And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 19:24; "Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Luke 6:24; "But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.

Luke 12:19; 'And (the rich man) will say to (his) soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."'
Luke 12:20; "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?'
Luke 12:21; "So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

Luke 16:24; "And (the rich man) cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.'
Luke 16:25; "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.

1 Tim 6:9; But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.

Rev 3:17; 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

1 Tim 6:5; and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
1 Tim 6:6; But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
1 Tim 6:7; For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.

1 Pet 5:2; shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

Jas 4:3; You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

The Bible doesn't say it's a sin to be rich, but it does say it's a lot harder for the rich to get into heaven.

Matt 6:24; "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Matt 13:22; "And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Rev 18:2; And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.
Rev 18:3; "For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality."

Acts 5:1; But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
Acts 5:2; and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife's full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles' feet.
Acts 5:3; But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?
Acts 5:4; "While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

Eccl 5:10; He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.

Prov 18:11; A rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.
Prov 18:12; Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But humility goes before honor.

Prov 28:6; Better is the poor who walks in his integrity Than he who is crooked though he be rich.

Prov 28:11; The rich man is wise in his own eyes, But the poor who has understanding sees through him.

Prov 28:20; A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who makes haste to be rich will not go unpunished.

It seems that money and wealth are mentioned quite a bit in the Bible, but usually not in a good way.

You're right....Its all in the way we use it and rely on it...Money is a mere tool...Like a hammer....I don't worship my hammers...LOL

Timothy 6:6-
Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

When I was young especially I dreamed of being rich in the material things, which to me meant money. Now I am what most people classify as old (72), and is it all gone? No, but it is not the same. Two things make a difference now. One is I have had quite a bit of money available in my lifetime (mostly gone now), but the most important thing is that I met Jesus and learned from Him how to handle what I have and to live without what I don't have.

Once in a while when I am thinking on things that I wish to do ... for God... I find myself wishing that I have more money available to do them. So I plan according to what I have or don't have, but then God reminds me of the testimony of Corrie Ten Boom [in Tramp for the Lord] when God had directed her to travel to Russia to minister for Him. The price of her tickets to Russia would be 5,000 Guilders (Dutch money) and she had only 3,000 so she prayed for the other 2,000. God's response was for her to give away 2,000 Guilders. She argued a little with God as if He has misunderstood her need... but she knew her Lord and in the end wrote a check for 2,000 Guilders and gave it to another ministry group leaving with only 1000 Guilders for her trip. Later the same day she received a completely unexpected check in the mail for more than was required for her Russian trip... Give God the glory!

“Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; and ye are Christ’s and Christ is God’s” (1 Corinthians 3:21-23)

God didn’t create you to suffer and struggle through life, but it’s sad that some have settled for the lesser things in life because they’ve ignored God’s Word. God’s Word, apart from showing you His will for your life, also reveals your inheritance in Christ.

2 Corinthians 8:9 declares, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” Jesus became poor, that we might become rich. So all you’ve got to do, to enjoy the life of prosperity He’s brought you into, is to live in His Word!

In Isaiah 1:19, (TLB) says: “if you will only let me help you, if you will only obey, I will make you rich.” Your submission to God’s Word as final authority in your life is the key to living in your inheritance in Christ and enjoying life to the full. That’s what empowers angels to act on your behalf and commit riches to you. God has already bestowed all the treasures of heaven on you. He’s given you all things to enjoy, not in the sweet by-and-by, but today!

Walk in the PRESENSE OF God and prosperity will naturally follow....Yes! All prosperity

How do you know he did not create someone to suffer, Paul suffered and so did every one of the apostles. And Jesus told Paul many times he would suffer for his sake, suffering for Jesus Is a honor and privilege Amen !!

Jesus also tells us many times we all will persecuted because we believe in him. Being Persecuted usually causes suffering doesn't it.

Every one of the apostles went through persecution, no doubt! But!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every one of them had the victory in and through it....An example....Paul He had a messenger of Satan sent to buffet him...He went to God about it and God said..."My grace (My empowering PRESENCE) is enough for you... Paul takes hold of God's empowering PRESENCE and sends this messenger running....Victory!
Oh Look! Here's Stephen...They stoned him...to death...What were his last words? Blessing! Then he went into the PRESENCE...Victory!
What you are calling suffering is simply an opportunity to take Victory over the enemy.... Just like Jesus did

As I said it was a honor for them and of course they got victory, God will always win, they suffered for the ultimate prize Heaven (they would not of gone through that suffering for any treasures promised to them in this world), to be with with God, we must stay focused on the eternal prize that last for ever, and not of things of this world, that will be gone in the blink of a eye.

Jesus constantly gives us examples of people that will not enter the kingdom of God because they were to concerned about the treasures of this world.

English Standard Version
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Of course you lay up your treasures in heaven but the tools of the trade you need here and now...Like money...it's a tool. Without money how could you feed the poor? Without money how could you finance a crusade? Or support a missionary? Or provide housing for a poor widow? We need even financial prosperity in this world....If you use those tools to make yourself comfortable you are misusing Gods blessing....Otherwise....

I concur ^^^^ we need money and to be wise stewards of Gods money that he lets us manage. Just seems to many preachers now a days focus on the earthly things like "best life now", no way my best life is when the Resurrection of us and Heaven and Earth takes place !!!

Here is one for you. I heard this some time ago.

People were created to be loved and things(possessions, money, etc) were made to be used.
One major problem with the world is that many people love things and use people.
