I would like some information on messianic Christians, there is such a thing right? I think I have it right. Is this Jewish Christian? Forgive me, I do not know anything about this. I want to know exactly what their doctrine is and what traditions, customs, celebrations etc...that they follow. Any good links will be appreciated.

Messianic Jews

Do you mean Messianic Jews? If that's the case, then you answered your own question : )
Like you said in your post, Messianic Jews believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

I suggest doing a google search to find relevant sites to answer your questions.

God bless you~

Hi calluna

Read your thread. Just look it up in google search or any search engine. The messianic Jews are the Jewish people that are turning to Lord Jesus Christ.
It was spoken of by Jesus and in Romans 11 and other places in the New Testament. They are the natural branches of the Lord.

Romans 11
17But if some of the branches were broken off, while you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them to share the richness [of the root and sap] of the olive tree,

18Do not boast over the branches and pride yourself at their expense. If you do boast and feel superior, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root [that supports] you.

19You will say then, Branches were broken (pruned) off so that I might be grafted in!

20That is true. But they were broken (pruned) off because of their unbelief (their lack of real faith), and you are established through faith [because you do believe]. So do not become proud and conceited, but rather stand in awe and be reverently afraid.

21For if God did not spare the natural branches [because of unbelief], neither will He spare you [if you are guilty of the same offense].

22Then note and appreciate the gracious kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's gracious kindness to you--provided you continue in His grace and abide in His kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off (pruned away).

Again it is mentioned in the New Testament. Salvation for the Jews.

Romans 11:24
For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and against nature grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much easier will it be to graft these natural [branches] back on [the original parent stock of] their own olive tree.

God is inviting the Jewish people back and I think it is wonderful. It is a beautiful movement in the history of Christianity and it is happening now.

Hope you find your information. There are different beliefs in the Messianic faith. Some bring tradition with them and others just simply obey the New Testament.

Blessings on your research.

Hi calluna

I found this on the internet. Is this what you are asking about. My understanding of Messianic jews is that they do not use the word God when they type they leave out the o in the middle of His name.

Question: "What is Messianic Judaism?"

Answer: Messianic Judaism is the term given to Jewish people from all walks of life who believe and have accepted Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) of Nazareth as the promised Messiah of the Hebrew Scriptures. These Jewish people do not stop being Jewish, but they continue to remain strong in their Jewish identity, lifestyle and culture, while following Yeshua as He is revealed in the Brit Chadashah, the New Covenant. Many Messianic Jews refer to themselves as “completed Jews” since they believe that their faith in the God of Israel has been “completed” or fulfilled in Yeshua.

In reality, Messianic Judaism began 2000 years ago. Yeshua, Himself, was an observant Jew, most of the Apostles and writers of the New Covenant were Jewish, and the vast majority of the early believers in Yeshua were also Jewish (see Acts chapter 2).

Traditional rabbinical Judaism today does not believe that Yeshua is the Jewish Messiah. Observant Jews are still waiting faithfully in accordance with the Rambam’s (Rabbi Moses Maimonides 1134-1204) “Thirteen principles of Jewish Faith” which states in Principle 12 “I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. How long it takes, I will await His coming every day.” Most secular Jews do not believe in the physical coming of a personal Messiah, but some still look forward to a Messianic concept or Messianic Age.

Today, it is estimated that there are over 100,000 Messianic Jews in the Unites States alone, and the numbers worldwide are growing all the time. Messianic Synagogues have also become very popular, and recent estimates number more than 200 congregations in this country. There are also many Messianic congregations in Israel and around the world.

Messianic Jews continue to celebrate the Jewish festivals and feast days as prescribed in the Hebrew Scriptures (i.e. Passover, Day of Atonement, etc.) but they do it in a way that demonstrates how Yeshua has already fulfilled these Holy Days. Most Messianic Jews do not celebrate Christmas or Easter, since neither holiday is mentioned in the New Covenant. Jews who now follow Yeshua the Messiah understand that everything given in the Old Covenant was a “mere shadow” of the better things to come in the New.

What is Judaism and what do Jews believe?

If it helps any I was born Jewish Orthodox-Conservative, it was in September 1989 I came to know Jesus Christ/Yeshua Homashia as my personal Lord and savior via Apocolyptic dreams. If you are looking for specifics on Messianic Jews you will find as much division doctrinally as you will find in todays Christianity. Paul spoke of his own place in Christ as this, "I am, What I am by the grace of G-d." Man is more motivated in making up religion than actually having a personal relationship with YHWH through His only begotten Son Yeshua. On a more personal note it would be better to seek a face to face relationship than to get caught up in mans own stupidity/eniquity. GBU in your search.

I used to visit Messianic Jewish websites quite a bit.

And while I really enjoyed many of them, some of them held to certain practices that I wasn't entirely comfortable with, being that these were basically Jewish Christians. Like the strict adherence to Kosher food laws. I may be wrong, but didn't Paul have a dream in which the Lord told him to call no food unclean that God had seen fit to provide him for meat? To me that would mean the old Kosher laws are no longer in effect.

And one of them (I have forgotten the name) had a long rant accusing gentile Christians of perverting true Christianity, and calling for Messianic Jews to reestablish true Christianity. It felt more like gentile bashing than a serious call to discuss what the early church was all about.

Hi there brother.

I think this is what you were talking about. It was Peter.

Peter's Vision

9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four‑footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

What does the Bible say about what foods we should eat?

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:

Constant Misunderstanding

As for Peter's dream I have heard countless amout of times this mis quoted or not read in its entirety. But then again most people don't study the Laws of the Lord. Peter's dream has nothing to do with food. It has to do with people. Anyone other than jews who live outside of the Law of the Lord are unclean. It would be unexceptable for any Jew/Isrealite to fellowship with a gentile, less they come to the full understanding of the law. Added to this in which Jesus Yeshua hated was the adding to His laws (Deut: 4:1-3) which the Pharesies and Sagesies did with the Oral law commonly refered to the Talmud. The Scriptures pertaining to Jesus Yeshuas indignation is easily read in Matthew 23. Hope this helps. GBU

I've never heard that interpretation.
You've given me some food for thought! Lol.
It's going to be interesting discussing this with a friend of mine who is a real Biblical scholar.

Zola Levitt is a good website. I believe Zola past away about a year ago. But his teachings ring loud and clear. God Bless him.

Thanks for the recommendation. I bookmarked the site. Later on tonight I'm going to spend some time there reading the articles, and listening to the audio files.
