Materialism/Idolitry

Hi Everybody,

I have been struggling with materialism lately (and most of my life really). I always seem to be wanting the newest/fastest/biggest/coolest thing...especially in the electronics realm. Just wondering if anyone else is struggling with this, and how you are dealing with it and overcoming it.

Materialism/Idolatry

Neil, It is awesome that you, a newly born again believer, are asking this question/calling out for help. My response is this: Make certain that you get good Biblically based teaching every week. Also, does your church have small groups that meet regularly in peoples' homes (I hope they do)? Do you read from the New Testament daily? I believe that newly reborn folks like yourself need to study the gospels first, then the epistles because its in studying these sources and in receiving good teaching that you'll find answers to your issues.

How do I deal with such issues? I study Scripture every day, I sit at the feet of good Bible teachers at my church, and I try to turn my will and my life over to the care of God often. That way I learn spiritual truths and the Holy Spirit is free to guide me and empower me to do the Father's will.
