One thing I noticed about myself is the more and more I read the bible on my own, without the influence of man, my stance on subjects change. For example, my stance on the timing of the rapture has changed. When you listen to those teaching on certain subjects we become influenced by them whether we know it or not. Especially if the teaching appeals to our flesh, like the pre-trip rapture does. I do not think anyone on their own after reading the bible 20 times would ever conclude there is a pre trib rapture. It has to be taught to us, because it is actually not found anywhere in the bible, it may be inferred but never comes out and say's it. But the post trib rapture timing comes right out in plain english and says it. Matthew 24:29-31.
When we read the NT over and over again, we see that the way to heaven is hard and few find it Matthew 7:13-14 . Sounds more like he is preparing us for the tribulation then escaping from it.
We read in the NT that suffering, trials, tribulation, persecution are all promises to us from Jesus. James 1:2-4 Not that we will escape. As a matter of fact he tells us that it is good for us, we will grow in Christ because of it.
We see the parable of the wheat and tares that they are to grow together, and be gathered together at the same time at the end of the age. Matthew 13:30
We see the examples of the apostles all dying for there faith, we see believers all around the world dying for there faith, yet we here in the western world we think somehow we deserve to escape this with the pre-trib theory.
Nothing in the NT suggests that we are to escape from trials and tribulation and persecution, in Fact that's what we are promised as followers of Christ. That promise from Jesus does not line up with the Pre trib theory IMO
