Love vs Fear

Member
I was reading 1 John 4:18 where it talks about perfect love casting out all fear and i began to think of love and fear in terms of movement. The way that they flow is oposite to each other. Love embraces and moves forward and fear causes me to move backwards and avoid whatever it is i'm afraid of.
People often say hate is the oposite to love but i think fear is, looking at this scripture.
Given that God is ever living, ever flowing and spiritual things of God are either alive or they are dead, fear would stop the flow of love because we push away, reject and act in the oposite manner to the kingdom principle movement that God has set in motion.

Any other thoughts?

Hi, Theosebes!

This has been my experience.

God's love is so awesome!

God bless you.

Well, Obviously, there is more then one type of fear Biblically.

Prov 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

And actually, I would say Love and Fear are totally unrelated. You can Love and Fear something or Hate and fear something. Fearing X has nothing to do with weather or not you like it.

Just a Thought.

Thank you

Thank you everyone for your thoughts

I agree there is definitely more than one type of fear or 1 John 4:18 wouldn't make sense. It's the scary fear i was thinking. Having said that though, the scripture does say 'all' fear. I think it probably means all of the scary type of fear rather than, 'all' meaning every type, including the fear of the Lord.
