LOVE (Agape)
Two definitions of love
1 Cor 13: 4-7
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Are you Patient, kind, not jealous, boastful, proud or rude; not demanding your own way. Not irritable and not keeping records of being wronged. 6 not rejoicing about injustice but rejoicing whenever the truth wins out;7 never giving up, never losing faith, always hopeful, and enduring through every circumstance.
Love is: wanting and offering the absolute best for the one you love, no matter the cost, no matter the response.
If this is what describes love, why aren’t we like this all the time?
Jesus told us Love one another as I have loved you
Love God with all; and your neighbour as yourself
Patience hangs on until the job is done; however long it takes, because of love.
We might be kind for a short time, but then run out of patience.
Jealousy is feeling resentment against someone because of that person's rivalry, success, or advantages.
Boasting is telling of your greatness to impress others; maybe to generate their love for you.
Pride is usually considering yourself greater and more important than others.
Demanding your own way is not considering others or their needs
Irritability is associated with no patience.
Keeping record of wrongs is making sure you have ammunition for crushing the other in arguments.
Gal 5: 22
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Joy comes from within, is not dependant on circumstances unlike happiness. Happiness comes and goes with things happening around us.
Joy is greater as our love grows. We are joyful at others success, instead of jealous at it. Joy takes pleasure in others doing well even when we aren’t.
As we remain joyful we find we are at peace.
Someone once said; “conflict is inevitable; combat is optional”; but conflict does not have to steal your peace or joy.
Peace is also an inner thing when; we have peace there is an opportunity to have greater patience. We are less likely to go off the handle when things go wrong; we’ll handle situations that arise with patience.
Patience is not being in a hurry to see something done before the right time. Waiting on God until His time is due. Being patient will ensure we don’t lose our joy, our peace and people will see in us Kindness
Kindness is putting our love and patience into action. We treat others in a way the God would have us treat them. Not getting in first as many of the world do.
Goodness comes as a result of being kind; goodness relates to a high standard. A high level of integrity; this is who you are when no one else is around. Goodness ensures we are doing right so our patience is not lost, we still have our peace, our joy, and love is not soured. Goodness causes us to be kind.
Faithfulness is a trait of keeping all our promises and because we are good, kind, patient, at peace and have joy
Because we are good and kind, we are gentle and faithful with people, not being soft with them, but carefully and treating them the way they deserve to be treated.
Gentleness comes to us as we grow in these attributes and all this leads to self-control.
If you have no joy in your life, no peace, no patience, check where your love is based.
Are you doing good, kind, faithful; if not where is your love based?
Do you lack gentleness and self-control?

It is from the fruit of love that all these attributes come
